Attention Deficit Disorder

There are many celebrities who struggle with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Justin Timberlake, Karina Smirnoff, Will Smith, Michael Phelps, Ty Pennington, Paris Hilton, Howie Mandel, and Bruce Jenner are among the eleven percent of Americans diagnosed with ADHD. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common disorders found in children, but it is sometimes found in adults too. ADHD is a problem of not being able to focus, being overactive, having uncontrollable behavior, or a combination of both of these.

ADHD is a disorder that affects a student’s ability to focus (Kids Health). ADHD may affect a student’s ability to focus in school. Perhaps, if a teacher were giving a lecture it would be especially hard for students with ADHD to follow along. ADHD can also have an affect on that person’s ability to stay organized, like keeping track of their daily activities. And it can cause the person to always be full of an abnormal amount of energy (Kids Health).

There are many symptoms to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (Internal Mental Health). People who suffer with ADHD may fail to give close attention to details or make carless mistakes in schoolwork or in other daily activities. They may have a difficult time staying attentive in certain tasks. They don’t listen when being directly spoken to; they don’t follow through with instructions and fail to complete chores, schoolwork, and other tasks. For example, they may only unload half of the dishwasher. They have a difficult time with organization. They may often miss scheduled appointments. ...h Central). Parenting a child with ADHD is difficult and growing up with a sibling that has ADHD would be very difficult as well. Children with ADHD require more monitoring and supervision, this would make it hard on the siblings. Children with ADHD also need more help on homework and staying focused after school. Some parents argue about not being on the same track on how to parent their disabled child. This could result in separation and divorce and can tear families apart (Health Central).
