Rulers throughout history would have different reactions to Machevelli’s statement, “It is much safer to be feared than loved”. Rulers that wanted total power would have a tendency to agree with the claim but other rulers exerted power without being feared.

Depending on prowess instead of anyone else, will build a firm foundation for the country. In conclusion, Raising the drinking age affects many aspects of the Virgin islands. We see that although it may bring the benefit of less alcohol related deaths and injuries from car accidents, it may cause more cons than pros due to the amount of areas being affected in different ways. It is best advised that the Virgin Islands legal drinking age should stay the same rather than being changed because young adults will continue to drink. Also, I feel it is best that the drinking age remain 18 because tourist view laws like these to be more laid back as a reflection to the laid back lifestyle that takes place in the VI.

If we are scrolling through a newspaper and we see an exciting flashy word, our eyes tend to draw towards it. Companies are entirely aware of this, so they flash words on us like, “Free,” ”New.” ”Hurry”. Something about these words makes us want to see what all the fuss is about, and to read the company’s ad. Now when you do read the ad, there will be “buzz words” embedded into he ad that do not even look flashy. It is always words that do not actually have a significant meaning what so ever, but they are added in anyway. For example, words like, Homemade, Improved, 100%, tasty, and the list continues.

Diets are simply not effective in the long term, as multiple studies have found. In one particular study that tracked participants for two years, it was found that 23% of participants who were tracked for less than two years had gained back more than they lost, while 83% participants that were followed for more than two years gained back more weight than they had lost. Another study found that “50 percent of dieters weighed more than 11 pounds over their starting weight five years after the diet…” In fact, diets can be more harmful in the long term than taking no action. The cycle of gaining weight then losing it has been linked to “cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, and altered immune functions.” It is not known what causes this but its very detrimental to your health.
