Romeo and Juliet - Parents
This essay is about a boy who is in love with a girl named Rosaline at the beginning of the book. His friend Mercutio makes fun of him, and he is heart broken from being turned down by her.
(Pg. 13) "This story of two young star crossed lovers takes place in the 15 century in fair Verona, Italy". Romeo has just been let down by Rosaline; when he mopes around nonstop thinking about her, word comes up about a masked ball at the Capulet residence. (Pg. 31) "Mercutio suggests going for they might meet more beauties there and they will suit one with Romeo". On the night of the ball, Romeo and Mercutio wait for something to come along until a young girl named Juliet comes along and gets nicely introduced to Romeo.
In this story a lot of bad things happen. The Capulets and the Montagues get into an awful brawl and Tybalt, the cousin of Juliet sees Romeo at the ball and challenges him to a duel later on.
Mercutio is a very loyal friend to Romeo because he helps him with all of the problems he has. For instance, when Romeo thinks there is no more hope left for him to find another love, Mercutio comes to the rescue and invites themselves to the ball where Romeo meets his new love. Another time in the book, Mercutio takes his life for Romeo in the fight between him and Tybalt.
Romeo and Juliet were confused because if they had only been smarter to realize the only plan they had to follow to live by. Romeo was the kind of person that always stuck with what he heard. When Rosalyn once loved him he kept looking for her when she left him, and slayed himself after hearing that Juliet was (she believed) dead.
Romeo and Juliet at the end of the book both die because they are foolish. When Balthasar comes into the last scene they all get along including the Montagues and Capulets. The story is ended. When Juliet sacrificed her life for Romeo it was dumb because she could have stayed alive and find another guy.
Thought the play, these lovers go through many obstacles that range from arranging a wedding and finding a time to meet to Juliet trying to get out of marrying Paris. The entire time fate is tossing them around. Romeo realizes this after he kills Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin, in a brawl. At first, Romeo does not want to fight because Romeo and Juliet are already married at this time and he knows that they are cousins. Tybalt asks for a brawl from Romeo but Mercutio fights instead. Mercutio gets killed by Tybalt and that is what makes Romeo mad and fight Tybalt.
Romeo and Juliet is the tragic story of two young, “star-crossed” lovers from feuding families, destined for disaster. The Capulets and the Montagues have an ancient grudge on one another that has been passed down over generations. Unfortunately, Romeo and Juliet end up victims of their families’ vicious loathing. Romeo and Juliet’s story has several intertwining themes such as the aforementioned hatred between the Capulets and Montagues and the revenge Romeo strives for after his friend Mercutio’s death. Also, the love and passion between Romeo and Juliet and the loyalty of Romeo and his friends. Honour and revenge also feature frquently throughout the play including Juliet’s pressure to honour her family, and the revenge Romeo sees as his duty when Tybalt kills Mercutio.
On 7 December 1941 the Japanese Military launched a destructive surprise attack on United States Military Forces in Pearl Harbor, HI. This forced the United States into the ongoing war that they had hoped to avoid. Unaware of what happened at Capulet’s party, Mercutio assumes that Romeo is still heartbroken from Rosalind. Line 15 in Act II, Scene IV provides an alternative perspective that exposes the true nature of young love. “Alas poor Romeo, he is already dead, stabbed with a white wench’s black eye, run through the ear with a love song.” Mercutio assumes that love only results in pain, with Romeo’s troubles with infatuation only supporting his belief. It was a two-fold plan, first If they attacked the US, they would draw attention from what was happening in Europe and all sources would be directed to the west half of the US. Second since the attack was so quick and unexpected the US was caught off guard. Since Japan attacked the largest base in the Pacific, Japan believed they would be able to cripple the US defenses for a while. “The Japanese did not realize that the attack on Dec. 7, 1941 would be a rallying cry for the Americans that had not enlisted to enlist in troops.” (Hampton)
Now anger was steaming in Japan and they were devising a plan that would cripple America forcing them to get involved in foreign affairs. Yomamoto the military leader for Japan, devised a plan in 1940 to devastate America by taking out Pearl Harbor. The last straw for Japan was when FDR cut off all supplies to Japan this is when Japan devised their plans to take out the U.S. Navy. In 1939 Roosevelt ended the 1911 commercial treaty. In 1940 he signed the export control act that stopped all goods from going to Japan. In July of 1941 Roosevelt froze all of the assets of Japan in the United States. All of these crucial moves made by the United States should have prepared them to expect an attack by the Japanese.

The complications in the play Romeo and Juliet are a result of the characters impulsiveness. Lord Capulet’s decision led to Romeo and Juliet’s first meeting. Juliet’s refusal of marriage, because of her undying faith to Romeo led to her fake death. Lastly, Romeo’s decision to kill himself without thinking led to three deaths, his own, Paris’, and Juliet’s. The decisions made in the play were due to the characters acting without thinking. Unfortunately, Romeo and Juliet took till death do us part literally.
In William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, two young lovers lost their lives when hate and love collided. From the Montagues came Romeo and from the Capulets came Juliet. The two families were feuding and Romeo and Juliet could not stand being without each other. They both killed themselves because they thought life was not worth living without the other. Before the attack on Pearl Harbor the road to war with Japan started in the 1930s. The Empire of Japan was trying to expand its empire through the Pacific and China. In 1931 Japan conquered Manchuria, which was part of China and began an unsuccessful campaign to take over the rest of China. Japan allied themselves with Nazi Germany in 1940. At that time the U.S. had economic and political interests in East Asia. The U.S. added China with financial and military help along with strengthening its own military presence in the Pacific. Prior to this attack, Japan had issues with the United States and other large government countries starting in 1915. Japan put its “Twenty One Demands” on China, giving Japan a bigger status in parts of the country. When the United States enforced the Open Door Policy, Japan’s demands were no longer enforced. Later, the Great Depression in the U.S. made Japan’s economic problems worse; they were dependent on international trade since their island country had only few natural resources. To add to their list of problems, Japan was overpopulated and many countries, mainly the United States, had denied entry of Japanese immigrants. Japan’s military leaders thought the only way to solve the country’s issues was to invade China. After several aggressions against parts of China, the United States had issued a policy to limit economic sanctions against Japan, refuse the recognition of Japanese military conquests, and equal military and economic assistance for China. Japan blamed foreign interference for China’s refusal to give in to Japan’s terms. The Japanese then wanted to find a way to block foreign assistance from getting to China, so they could then take over the country. Just as the Friar says in the beginning of the Shakespeare play, Romeo and Juliet, “Wisely and slowly, they stumble that run fast.” (II.iii.94). this was a sign of foreshadowing for for the death of the lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Even though fate was a factor that had contributed to a tragic end, there was also personal choice involved, and ultimately, the story may have had a different ending if it weren’t for the flaws of the lovers and their inability to have a grip on reality in dire circumstances. Over the course of the play, the lovers from the conflicting households have not matured and remain rather static in development. Furthermore, in this tragedy, the only son of the montages remains rather childlike, Juliet still seems immature and their relationship over all seems more like a play act on lover rather then something mature and sustainable. Overall, from start to finish, Romeo and Juliet were living in the moment, being absurd and silly rather then focusing on the future and trying to work problems out effectively.
The major climax of the play comes when the friar gives Juliet a potion that will make it seem as though she has died, when in fact she is alive the whole time. While in Mantua, Romeo mistakenly hears that Juliet has actually died and he goes to lay by her side. Just as he takes a vile of poison and dies Juliet awakens to find her love lying dead at her side. She cannot fathom living in a world without Romeo so she takes his sword and ends her own life.
