Recommended: Portrayal of romeo's experiences

In the play Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, pain and suffering all started from two characters falling in love. These characters are Romeo and Juliet, each from separate feuding families. But the actions of these characters caused many deaths along the way. It caused the death of Mercutio, Tybalt, Paris, Lady Montague, Romeo and Juliet. The struggles they are going through to see each other are enough to take ones life. The flaws of Romeo and Juliet resulted in a setup for not only their own death, but the death of others.

One of the deaths caused by the relationship between Romeo and Juliet is the death of Mercutio. Mercutio is kinsman to the prince and good friends with Romeo. As Romeo enters onto the stage, Tybalt starts to speak about love to Romeo. Tybalt says to Romeo as he enters, "Romeo, the love I bear thee can afford/No better term than this: thou art a villain."(III.i.59-60). After Tybalt's vulgar comment, Romeo replied back, "Tybalt the reason I have to love thee/Doth much excuse the appertaining rage/To such a greeting. Villain am I none./Therefore farewell. I see thou knowest me not."(III.i.61-64). Romeo outsmarted him with his words which makes Tybalt angry. Mercutio soon got into it, being eager as he is, and started to duel jokingly. This led to Tybalt stabbing Mercutio in his side, which started all of the emotion in the play.

Another character who died is Tybalt. Tybalt is the nephew of Lady Capulet and the cousin of Juliet. He made a clumsy act of slaying Mercutio which got Romeo quite upset. Suddenly after Mercutio died he calls out "This day's black fate on moe days doth depend/This but begins the woe others must end."(III.i.118-119). Romeo, being so angry that he slew his good friend, ran and slew Tybalt to get him back. All of this led to Romeo being banned from Verona, which is what really starts the miscommunication between the couple of Romeo and Juliet, and eventually leading to more deaths.

One other character who dies due to the situation of Romeo and Juliet is Paris. Paris is a young count who is kinsman to the Prince. Paris is originally supposed to marry Juliet by choice of Lord Capulet, but since she is married to Romeo, hence she seeks Friar Lawrence for an idea.

    Romeo senses tensions are high with Tybalt, so he states, “I do protest I never injured thee but love thee better than thou canst devise.” (Lines 65-66 Act Three, Scene One). Romeo is trying to diffuse the situation because he realizes that Tybalt is his love's cousin. Mercutio is surprised by Romeo’s behavior, so he decides to fight Tybalt himself. Mercutio’s decision to fight Tybalt leads to his own death. Romeo is angered by the death of Mercutio and states, “Now, Tybalt, take the “villain" back again/ That late thou gavest me; for Mercutio’s soul.” (Lines 123-124 of Act Three, Scene One). Romeo is indicating that Tybalt is the villain now, because he slayed Mercutio. Romeo forgets about his attempt to befriend the Capulets and slays Tybalt. Romeo, murderer of Tybalt, solely focuses on Juliet and states “Ha, banishment? Be merciful, say “death"/For exile hath more terror in his look.” (Lines 12-13 of Act Three, Scene Three).
