The next generation is important. I want them to believe in the right things and stand up for what they believe in. I believe there are three main goals that should be fought for, for eternity. We need to pass this concept on and let it grow throughout their lives. I believe "life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness" are extremely important. They are the basis of my American Dream. I think we should pass on the goal of learning to live. Meaning, I want people to understand how important what it is to live in life. They should live their life to the fullest and take advantage of opportunities that will help them throughout their lives. I think education is a key role in living. People should get the best education they can provide for themselves. They should learn about our nation's history and about the future. I believe people should also have liberty and always take advantage of their rights as American citizens. They should believe it a blessing to have such wonderful rights and liberties. We have so many things to stand up for and fight for what we believe is right. People should not just sit back and let those chances drift away. I also believe the pursuit of happiness should be one of the master goals of each individual in this world. People should try out different ways of living to find out what is the best way for them. Whether it is who is in your life, like your family, friends, or special someone, or whether it is where you live. It might be your job that makes you happy. You have to find out for yourself and live up to that dream to the best of your ability. Don't let your dreams pass you by and slip away from you. You have the chances, the opportunities, and it is YOUR own life, live it the best way you know how, and don't let others influence your own decisions too much. It is your life and you owe it to yourself to make your one and only life your favorite. I also believe the world needs to come together in unity to help rid the violence in the world. Hatred, racism, and differences are among the many traits that make up reasons for violence. Some individuals just don't get it.
The American dream is a set of ideals embedded in American society which freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity and success and an upward social mobility achieved through hard work, but is contradicted by the different treatment low income students may encounter. This idea was first officially presented in the Declaration of Independence of 1776, where it stated, “that all men are created equal, that all men are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are li...
In the United States' Declaration of Independence the founding fathers stated: ".held certain truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness." Through the course of change in the world- either through prosperity, capitalism or greed- people have lost focus on the real meaning of 'the American dream'. It is no longer the gamely aspiration of living life to the fullest, providing a better life for yourself and others; instead, a pursuit of those materialistic aspects of life. American Literae Thomas Wolfe said, ". to every man, regardless of his birth, his shining, golden opportunity.the right to live, to work, to be himself, and to become whatever thing his manhood and his vision can combine to make him."
Finally, President Obama calls for action. He reminds us, through anaphora, that “our journey is not complete” until we are all equal and more opportunistic, per-se. Obama tells us that that is our task, alluding to the Declaration of Independence, to “make these words, rights, these values of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness real for every American” is a task that we will all go through together as one to achieve for all. Concluding his speech, the president reminds us that we are the hope; we ARE the change.
These attitudes and feelings and ideas and goals are all derived from generations ago, from many different cultures that all banded together. It was all the people that moved from every other country to America that made America, America essentially. Each and every culture and religion and peoples made us America today. These different cultures and ideas all came together and formed the American mindset. The idea that everyone has a shot and prosperity and success no matter your class or race or birth. The idea that hard work can accomplish anything. Everyone has the same equal rights, and same equal chances to do great things. A person just has to put the sweat and tears into it. This 'American dream ' so to say, is rooted deeply in our Declaration of Independence, "that all men are created equal" and are "endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights that included Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." This mindset that everyone has the right to their own rights, and they can succeed and prosper no matter their race or class, is what makes an American. To make dreams and goals and go out and achieve them with hard work is what makes an American. This is an American
Hate crimes are done too frequently in the United States. Although we have laws that supposedly regulate them, many people still feel the need to commit acts of violence on people that are different than them. Many of these crimes originate with some sort of hate speech. People get ideas from other people, passed down from previous generations.
The American Dream was derived from the United States Declaration of Independence which states that, “All mean are created equal” and that they are “endowed by their creator with certain inalienable Rights” including “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness” (US 1776). This means that every person has equal opportunity
Every person has an American Dream they want to pursue, achieve and live. Many people write down goals for themselves in order to get to their dream. Those never ending goals can range from academic to personal. As of today, I am living my dream. My American Dream is to become a nurse, travel to many places, have a family, and get more involved with God.
...t for their right to have a say in how their country should be run. In their old age, the leaders of the American Revolution and eventual founders of the United States worried about the extent to which democracy pervaded society. However, their actions planted the seeds for oppressed groups to fight for their rights. A country whose founding principle is that “all men are created equal…with certain unalienable rights” including “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” will always give people hope for a better future.
The American Dream is so important to our country and especially for our generation to take seriously. The American Dream is the opportunity to reach the goals one sets for themselves. It is about having your dream job and life you have always fantasized about. The dream is also about having freedom and equality. The American Dream was much easier to attain a few decades ago compared to today. However, it is still possible. The economy was better fifty years ago than it is today. People are in greater debt now and the United States is in higher debt than it was fifty years ago. The American Dream is still possible despite the lack of improvement within social mobility in American society over the past years. The American dream is achievable by being able to live a middle-class lifestyle and that lifestyle is obtainable through hard work and perseverance, even in light of obstacles such as racism. “The American Dream is still achievable, however, the good news is that people at the bottom are just as likely to move up the income ladder today as they were 50 years ago” (O’Brien 1). The ability to attain the American Dream is hindered by race, the middle class, and giving up facing adversity.
To me, the American Dream moreover includes ideas such as obtaining large amounts of money and being financially stable. It implies, “With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.” “I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.”
The American Dream. This concept is well known as the picture perfect family, nice house and the white picket fence. As well as succeeding and excelling in life and making the future generations lives better than the current one. This concept has contributed much of the immigration from as early as 1931 to present day. However, many immigrants immigrate to the United States in order to escape oppression as well as uprising and turmoil which may reside in their home country. Though society often places people none the less immigrants into categories from social class, heritage, and prejudice they share a common thread of hope as well as facing obstacles in their journeys and once they arrive to the states. An example of this common thread of escaping their homeland in order to pursue new experiences and hopeful new life yet experiencing different hardships are shown when looking at both the Mexicans and the Irish.
Becoming educated we earn the right to make changes and to be heard. I am proud to be a part of culture that has come from Warriors. We are natural fighters and have the ability to become powerful in a positive way. By helping and supporting each other anything is possible, even saving my home, La Mission.
"The American Dream" is that dream of a nation in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with options for each according to capacity or accomplishments. It is a dream of social stability in which each man and each woman shall be able to achieve to the fullest distinction of which they are essentially competent, and be distinguish by others for what they are, despite of the incidental conditions of birth or stance. The American Dream is often something that humanity wonders about. What is the American dream? Many people discover success in a range of things. There are many different definitions of the American Dream. However, the American Dream embraces prosperity, personal safety, and personal liberty. The American dream is a continually fluctuating set of ideals, reflecting the ideas of an era.
“American Dream” is a national ethos of the United States citizens, it is the idea that American is the land of opportunity, it is a set of traditional social ideas, including freedom of opportunity for prosperity and success. Through studying this interview, I learned the term “American Dream” was commonly used after the Civil War, which represented the era of struggles, discrimination and a war that put an end to slavery. More than that, the term “American Dream” displayed a story of hope, opportunity, freedom, inspiration for the whole of society. However, in the video “On Winner-Take-All Politics” It showed that the American Dream is too difficult to achieve because the rich kept getting richer, and the poor worked harder without being
American Dream: what is your definition of it? Does it involve money? Does it involve love? Does it involve healthiness? People have different definitions of what they would want in their "American Dream." First of all, let's define American Dream. American Dream is what you would consider a "perfect life." It can be full of happiness, money, love, food, cars, whatever you desire; everyone has a different opinion. One person?s American Dream may be totally different from someone else?s; that is what makes us all individuals. Robert Wuthnow writes about different people?s American Dream in his essay "Having It All." Throughout Wuthnow's essay, it seems that not too many people are truly living out their American Dream. Many complain about having to work to much, not enough time with the family, not enough pay, and so on. My American Dream would include a good job and lots of money, spare time for my family and I, and most importantly, healthiness.
