Mathematics and Physics
Having thoroughly enjoyed A level Mathematics and Physics, I would like to further my studies with a degree course that combines these subjects. My Further Mathematics at A level course has helped me develop the confidence to tackle more chalalaging questions analytically. Whilst A level Chemistry and Computing have increases my basic knowledge in related subjects and will definitely assist me in future studies.
I am currently interested in Electrical and Electronic Engineering which I have pursued through my work experience in London. During the summer I did work experience with The Cellular Investment Company. The company is one of the most successful firms working in the field of mobile communications in Africa, Far-East and South America. This was a valuable experience for the course at University.
Both my parent are science/engineering professionals and they taught me some of the qualities needed for a degree course in the field of electric and electronic engineering. This has encouraged me to find out the opportunities available.
Outside college, I am a very keen mathematician and have been awarded 2 gold and a silver awards in the last three consecutive UK National Maths Challenge, which is an annual event organised by the Leeds University.
I have been a Millennium Volunteer for the last 8 months and I am currently volunteering at Rathbone, at the Merrion Centre in Leeds. I send 2-4 hours every Tuesday and Wednesday helping people from all over Leeds to achieve all sorts of computing experience from GNVQ's to New Deal Diploma's.
...e school, such as; Pelotonia, Light the Night for leukemia and lymphoma, Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities, etc… For many of these organizations I have volunteered more than once. Volunteering at Light the Night has a story. For my 16th Birthday party, I wanted to have my friends and I volunteer in the day while having fun at night. So I had 7 boys and girls, along with me, volunteer for Light the Night, organized by me. The party was a huge success and a lot of fun. I look forward to organizing more volunteer opportunities for my friends and I.
I have always been inspired by the workings of chemistry and mathematics. My studies of these subjects have developed my understanding and have made me pursue my interest in these two topics. I want to take up chemistry as it involves a large amount of mathematics which I value and understand to be challenging, yet very enjoyable, as there is always an alternative route to obtain the answer. Additionally, I am drawn to the course because it is a mixture of all these exacting subjects, forming a degree that is very demanding and stimulating. Chemists are constantly thinking of new ways to produce viable drugs containing different isomers to improve the pharmaceutical sector using mathematical equations. Chemistry is about innovation, applying information to new areas and how to do things better than they were before, the degree appeals to and fascinates me.
This year has given me that opportunity via teaching an MCAT preparatory course. I’ve incorporated aspects that helped me as a student, as I begin my classes with metaphors and stories that I’ve found most interesting. Furthermore, teaching an MCAT course allows me to work with students that have had the same difficulties such as myself. It gives me significant gratitude to know that I'm helping somebody who is in the same position I was once in.
At this stage of my life, I have many ambitions, the first step of which is to carry out my Masters studies in Automotive Engineering. Attending U.K. universities is surely a dream for distinguished students all over the world, especially the ones who are passionate about education. Secondly and a more subtle reason being acquiring a degree that has global recognition has become a necessity if one desires to carve out a niche for oneself in this increasingly global economy. Given a chance I shall prove my worthiness.
Computer games have steadily become a form of mainstream entertainment ever since Pong was released back in 1958. Today, it is hard to find an electronics department in any store that doesn't carry some sort of computer game. "Big deal," you say, "Everyone knows about computer games. What does they have to do with physics?" Well, the technology for creating more powerful software is constantly advancing, and since games are a form of software, they too become more and more advanced. As games become more advanced, game developers aim to create games that offer a more realistic experience. The technology has advanced to such a stage that making the games look real is no problem, but making a truly immersive experience is something different. That's where physics comes in.
My A-level studies are Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Design Technology. I have always been fascinated by numbers and this interest is continuing, hence my choices in A-level subjects. I enjoy the application of Mathematics to Physics. In Design Technology I can be creative and at the same time use my knowledge of Mathematics and Physics to help solve problems.
Due to the same affinity towards Mathematics, Science and research in general, I have opted for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as my major subjects in high school (XII th standard), where I have scored the top marks with 91%. I have secured State 340 Rank among the 250,000 students in the Common Engineering Entrance Exam (EAMCET), it’s the only Entrance Exam for admissions into the undergraduate colleges in the state. I have also secured All India Rank of 107 ...
Electrical engineering is the major that I am pursuing during my college career. I decided to pursue this major because it is a career, which requires knowledge in other subjects, it is a career, which changes often, and everyday it provides a person with new problems to solve.
Engineering has been a key interest of mine since childhood. While still in grade school I enjoyed listening to my father, an electrical engineer, teach me about advances in technology, and was always eager to hear more. I was introduced to my first computer at the age of five, and have loved interacting with them ever since. My decision to study engineering as a career was no surprise to those who knew me.
People travel miles in search of their true passion; some find them early in their life and I consider myself lucky enough to be one among them. I found my true calling at the age of 12 on a field trip to a milk factory. It seemed like the Disneyland of science with huge machineries, conveyer belts running all around, and instruments working about in their own rhythm with sheer intricacies and perfection. As a kid, I was eager to understand the mechanics behind this magical rhythm. The desire of gaining in-depth knowledge about Control System and Automation eventually led me to choose Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering as my undergraduate study.
Physics began when man first started to study his surroundings. Early applications of physics include the invention of the wheel and of primitive weapons. The people who built Stone Henge had knowledge of physical mechanics in order to move the rocks and place them on top of each other. It was not until during the period of Greek culture that the first systematic treatment of physics started with the use of mechanics. Thales is often said to have been the first scientist, and the first Greek philosopher. He was an astronomer, merchant and mathematician, and after visiting Egypt he is said to have originated the science of deductive geometry. He also discovered theorems of elementary geometry and is said to have correctly predicted an eclipse of the sun. Many of his studies were in astronomy but he also observed static electricity. Phythogoras was a Greek philosopher. He discovered simple numerical ratios relating the musical tones of major consonances, to the length of the strings used in sounding them. The Pythagorean theorem was named after him, although this fundamental statements of deductive geometry was most likely first an idea from Egyptian methods of measurements. With the help of his followers he discovered that the earth was a sphere, but he did not believe it revolved around the sun.
I am currently taking Maths, Chemistry and Biology to Advanced Higher, all of which are challenging and stimulating subjects. They have all influenced me in different ways and were integral in my decision to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering. They have also helped me obtain a foundation of core skills and extended knowledge to hopefully prepare me undertaking my desired degree. There is no doubt that Maths and chemistry have helped fine tune and advance my problem solving skills and think in a more logical manner, all of which I believe to be essential for this degree.
Electrical engineering, I believe, is the only field where one’s work becomes the most instrumental part of one’s mundane activity and life, and the output produced stays forever to credit. My perception is that, this field requires a lot of patience, perseverance and management skills in order to be successful. The connection that electrical engineering offered between me and this world is the fact that you can become a person who can impact so many lives. This made me pursue Electrical Engineering. After four years of undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering, I feel completely satisfied with my decision to choose this branch of engineering as my career option as it has revealed the most pragmatic and down-to-earth approach to tackling
From my schooling, I had immense interest in Mathematics and thus I choose Mathematics and Science at my intermediate level. My school was the place at which I gained deep knowledge in the fundamentals of Maths and Science. Academic excellence has always been my primary goal & it has engendered in me a sense of Competitiveness. I secured an aggregate of 89% in my high school and 86% in my higher secondary program. This performance helped me in getting admission into CVR College of Engineering, for my undergraduate program which is one among the top 10 colleges under Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University.
The Nature of Mathematics Mathematics relies on both logic and creativity, and it is pursued both for a variety of practical purposes and for its basic interest. The essence of mathematics lies in its beauty and its intellectual challenge. This essay is divided into three sections, which are patterns and relationships, mathematics, science and technology and mathematical inquiry. Firstly, Mathematics is the science of patterns and relationships. As a theoretical order, mathematics explores the possible relationships among abstractions without concern for whether those abstractions have counterparts in the real world.
