Abstract: Problem statement: The Rotor reactance control by inclusion of external capacitance in the rotor circuit has been in recent research for improving the performances of Wound Rotor Induction Motor (WRIM). The rotor capacitive reactance is adjusted such that for any desired load torque the efficiency of the WRIM is maximized. The rotor external capacitance can be controlled using dynamic capacitor in which the duty ratio is varied for emulating the capacitance value. This study presents a novel technique for tracking maximum efficiency point in the entire operating range of WRIM using Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The data for ANN training were obtained on a three phase WRIM with dynamic capacitor control and rotor short circuit at different speed and load torque values. Approach: A novel nueral network model based on back-propagation algorithm has been developed and trained for determining the maximum efficiency of the motor with no prior knowledge of the machine parameters. The input variables to the ANN are stator current (Is), Speed (N) and Torque(Tm) and the output variable is duty ratio (D). Results: The target is set with a goal of 0.00001. The accuracy of the ANN model is measured using Mean Square Error (MSE) and R2 parameters. The result of R2 value of the proposed ANN model is 0.99980. Conclusion: The optimal duty ratio and corresponding optimal rotor capacitance for improving the performances of the motor are predicted for low, medium and full loads by using proposed ANN model.

The Wankel rotary engine named after the designer, Felix Wankel, was engineered in the early 1930’s. The rotary engine was unlike the conventional four stroke internal combustion engines and lacked the need for pistons, valves and camshafts. With only three moving parts involved in the design, this engine showed great promise in reliability and efficiency. The first Wankel rotary model was shown in 1960, not as an engine, but as a pump drive. Instead of the very complicated system involved in a conventional reciprocating piston engine, the wankel engine incorporated triangular “rotors” (see figure 1) that rotate within an epitrochoidal chamber around an eccentric shaft. Not only is this engine much more simple (only 3 moving parts rather
The first type of forced induction system is the turbocharger. A turbocharger is essentially the same as a supercharger, except where they get their power from. A turbocharger is powered by exhaust gasses that have been produced by the engine and are forcing their way through the turbofold, or the exhaust manifold that the turbo is housed in. The exhaust gas pushes its way through the turbocharger and hit the turbine wheel. Vehicles that usually find the need for a turbocharger from the factory are four or six cylinder engines. Standard in most European vehicles such as Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagen and Volvo. These cars are known for their small displacement motors, and great gas efficiency, due to this setup...
Just about 80% of the mechanical power utilized by businesses is given by three stage enlistment engines in view of its basic and tough development, ease, great working attributes, nonappearance of commutator and great speed direction. In three stage enlistment engine the power is exchanged from stator to rotor twisting through acceptance. The Enlistment engine is likewise called offbeat engine as it keeps running at a speed other than the synchronous speed. Like some other electrical engine enlistment engine additionally have two primary parts to be specific rotor and stator. A 3-stage enlistment engine has two principle parts (I) stator and (ii) rotor. The rotor is isolated from the stator by a little air-crevice which ranges from 0.4 mm to 4 mm, contingent upon the force of the engine. The primary body of the Enlistment Engine involves two noteworthy parts as shows in Figure
Rolling-element bearings in electric motors support and locate the rotor, maintain a small and consistent air gap between the rotor and stator, and transfer loads from the shaft to the motor frame. The correct bearings for an application let a motor run efficiently across its design speed range, minimize friction and power loss, produce little noise, and have a long service life.
A direct current in a set of windings creates a polar magnetic field. A torque acts on the rotor due to its relation to the external magnetic field. Just as the magnetic field of the rotor becomes fully aligned with the external magnetic field, the direction of the current in the windings on the armature reverses, thereby reversing the polarity of the rotor's electromagnetic field. A torque is once again exerted on the rotor, and it continues spinning.
The output power of a motor could be calculated by using this formula, P = Torque.w where w the angular velocity[7]. Knowing and computing all those parameters of the motor which are torque, angular velocity and output power will help to know the proper motor that could be used for specific applications and control the operation of that motor.
(2012) about EMC2 (Enhanced Machine Control ver. 2) - an Open Source NC software running in Linux environment, has been successfully used as a numerical control system for a milling machine, proving great flexibility and adaptability. The EMC2 features, is powerful tool that able to control the machine-tool and to simultaneously show the virtual model, displaying the same behaviours of the real machine. The simulation limitation cannot display the chip removal, but only the tool path. This limitation may great help for designer and user to identify volume of removed
v+Vmaxsin(angular position of coil)”(cookeadamsdellmoore pg 509). This hopefully adds some insight into the use of electric motors, and the principles that make these motors work. Such as electromagnetism, binary switches for DC motors, and the selection of a running frequency of a motor through the use of an oscillator.
The design and build of simulation has two parts, part one is simulation of LED indicator for motor speed recognize and part 2 is simulation of V/F speed control of Linear induction motor. Firstly, design a control function in front panel of LabVIEW, it use for a control system interface and show the LED indicator for speed control of frequency variable. Secondly, build up a simulation module of the block panel, which function on the palette indicate the frequency calculations. After set the value of the frequency by turning the “Frequency Variable” knob, the value will be sent to the Logics used. It is a human machine interfaces design software that is user friendly.
Dc servo motor is widely used for industrial and domestic purpose. it is necessary to establish the mathematical model of DC servo motor here we are using armature control DC motor to control speed and position of Dc motor. In armature control of DC motor the resistance Ra and inductance La connected in series and voltage is representing the back emf of DC servo motor. The motor parameter and variable define as follow. Consider armature control dc motor shown in fig
There are expert systems that can solve complex problems that humans train their whole lives for. In 1997, IBM's Deep Blue defeated the world champion in a game of chess (Karlgaard, p43). Expert systems design buildings, configure airplanes, and diagnose breathing problems. NASA's Deep Space One probe left with software that lets the probe diagnose problems and fix itself (Lyons).
Artificial neural networks are systems implemented on computer systems as specialized hardware or sophisticated software that loosely model the learning and remembering functions of the human brain. They are an attempt to simulate the multiple layers of processing elements in the brain, called neurons. These elements are implemented in such a way so that the layers can learn from prior experience and remember their outputs. In this way, the system can learn to recognize certain patterns and situations and apply these to certain priorities and output appropriate results. These types of neural networks can be used in many important situations such as priority in an emergency room, for financial assistance, and any type of pattern recognition such as handwritten or text-to-speech recognition.

The demand for electricity has grown due to the rapid economic development and gradual increase in the world’s population. The effective economic operation and management of electrical power generating system has always been an important concern in the electrical power industry. The growing size of power grids, huge demand and crisis of energy across the world, continuous rise in price of fossil fuel necessitate the optimal combination of generation level of power generating units. The problem of Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) is to minimize the total cost of power generation (including fuel consumption and operational cost) from differently located power plants while satisfying the loads and losses in the power transmission
Electrical motors play an important role in today’s society, from powering domestic appliances like blenders to industrial equipment such as trains. It almost seems impossible to not use an electric motor in our daily lives. In the comfort of our home, electric motors will operate fans, refrigerators, and air conditioners to just name a few. Researchers are constantly looking for new ways to incorporate electrical motors in our lives.
