In 2002, The Park was officially opened making it the only three high school campus in the United States (Hal Heard, Canton High School Principal). The Park is a unique place in Michigan. It holds three high schools: Canton High School, Plymouth High School, and Salem High School, plus over 220 extracurricular activities all for more than six thousand students that attend there. Nevertheless, among the three high schools at The Park, Canton High School is the best high school. Canton High School is the best high school at The Park because of its sports program, academy, and its academics. First, in the 2013 Canton Football season, Canton Football was nearly unstoppable compared to the other two high school football teams. For example, Canton Football’s Varsity team finished their season with a record of eight wins - two losses (Football 2013 KLAA Standings 1). Although Plymouth’s Football team was reasonably close with a record of five wins – four losses, they are still not even close to being as good as the Canton Football team. Plymouth’s Football team wins and Salem’s Football team wins combined only ties Canton’s Football wins. That shows how much better Canton’s Football is compared to the two high schools’ football teams. The football team is just one example of how Canton’s sports are phenomenal compared to the other high school sports offered at The Park. Canton’s sports being better than the other sports programs makes it the best. Second, three academies were introduced to The Park in 2012. The three academies are The International Academy (IA), Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), and The Arts Academy. STEM is the academy located in Canton High School. A good academy is an... ... middle of paper ... ... Hensel, Donna. Personal Interview. 2 May. 2014 Jaegar, Marilyn. Personal Interview. 2 May. 2014. Marszalek, Jim. KLAA Standings. 10 Nov, 2013. This tournament, apart from entertaining students and other fans, highlights what stuff different colleges are made of. This comes at a critical time when high school seniors are considering what colleges to attend once they graduate. Thus, it is not surprising that this package of sporting events brings glad tidings to the people as it helps usher-in the beautiful spring season. However, a critical evaluation of the different teams and schools reveal the series of events -both good and not so good- that occur as they prepare for this all-important tournament.
Families and students in grades 6 through 10 may choose to attend and admission is by lottery. Student population is about 300 and there is no cost to attend this alternative public school that operates under the same student budget allocation as other district schools.
We then meet Nova who goes to Oak Park High. Oak Park is in the suburbs of Chicago. The students seem to mostly be Hispanic and White. The school itself is pretty up to date, and is the third best school we see in the documentary.

Looking back on my three years at Twin Cities Academy, I find myself wondering how all these years came and went so fast. I still watch myself walking through the same halls and sitting in the same classrooms as I did back in 6th and 7th grade and I’ve seen myself grow so much, mentally, socially and physically. I still remember everything that has happened throughout my years, the best of times, and the worst.

Once again, after a successful season, Shadle Park was defeated by a Big 9 school in the first game of the regional tournament. This reoccurring event has led many to believe that the four year football program puts GSL students at a disadvantage compared to other districts. A junior high school football program would not only increase the competitiveness of the students but also have more important consequences.
People often fail to see the life-changing role sports can play for at-risk youth in low-income urban neighborhoods and the need for more sports-based youth programs to reduce crime and increase high school graduation rates in our cities. An article written about a year ago about “Royals, local government team up to open a youth urban baseball academy at 18th and vine,” The Kansas City Mayor calls it a dream and others called it a fairytale. Projects like this don’t come very often, or at least not nearly as often as we’d all like. They are calling it the Kansas City Urban Youth Academy. The possibilities are incredible. On the surface, they will be teaching baseball to kids from 6 to 18 years old, but really, they want to be doing much more than that. The only way communities can progress and build infrastructures like this one in areas that are termed as gang infested areas like this one is by spreading the message of love in community related events such as
The past four years have been fun and easy for some and a struggle for others. When I reflect on my high school experience, I think of watching football games, playing softball, homecoming weeks, school trips, parties and time with my friends. Others have spent their time in drama, band, community service, part-time jobs and all sorts of other activities. We have all watched Mr. LHS grow along with us until it became a big part of the high school year. I enjoyed laughing with and at the guys as they showed off their talents. This year’s homecoming football game was one of the most exciting ones we have had, with four quarters and three overtimes when we beat Jackson 48 to 42 for a homecoming victory. No matter what types of experiences we have had, I think they are important to remember and grow from.
O’Dea, as it is referred to within this paper, was selected because it is located within my neighborhood, and I am familiar with it’s location, general population and the mission and goals of the school.
In this paper I am going to present an theoretical school district, school, and a classroom as examples of the ideal that our educational system should strive to achieve. The philosophy my schools will be based on is one of equality. Every single child will have an opportunity to receive the best possible education. However, we will never lower our standards for the sake of equality. Each child will be pushed to his or her personal best, not an average standard.
There are many decisions for parents to choose private or public school for their kids. Every parent wants what is best for his or her child. A person's education is one of the most important aspects in determining whether or not they will become a productive member of society. Education is so important. We need to look at both public and private schools to find out if there is a difference. Private schools are a better choice than public school for many reasons. Private encourages strong quality teaching, encourages higher education learning, and inhibit the rampant of bullying.
