The organization that I will be discussing is Apple, and specifically its iPod products.
Apple was incorporated in the state of California on January 3, 1977. The Corporation has many stores throughout the world, and its corporate offices are at Apple Computer, Inc. 1 Infinite Loop Cupertino, CA 95014.
Mission Statement
Apple’s Mission Statement is that,
Apple ignited the personal computer revolution in the 1970s with the Apple II and reinvented the personal computer in the 1980s with the Macintosh. Today, Apple continues to lead the industry in innovation with its award-winning computers, OS X operating system and iLife and professional applications. Apple is also spearheading the digital media revolution with its iPod portable music and video players and iTunes online store, and has entered the mobile phone market with its revolutionary iPhone.
Apple Products
In order to understand the various iPod products out there, it is necessary to review all of the Apple products and to what degree they relate to and integrate with each other.
Apple’s product line is incorporated to a large degree in its Mission Statement. They have an extensive line of computers, both desktop and laptop, under the Mac name brand. Their desktop, iMac, revolutionized the industry by incorporating the tower into the monitor to minimize space. The laptops were known for their large screen size, all the while maintaining minimal weight and thickness as well as a large assortment of hardware and speed. Their newest product is the iBook Air, which it touts as the thinnest and lightest laptop on the market.
Apple also produced a line of digital media gadgets as an alternative or replacement to compact disks. The iPod allows the storing of hundreds of songs and videos, as well as a way of
connecting the device to various sound systems. The players allow music, videos, and movies to be accessed through multiple search features, and its innovative control surfaces range from scrolling wheel pads to touch screens. The iPod line, along with the iTunes software, allows for search, purchase, and storage capabilities in a virtually seamless medium.
Apple furthered their media and personal devices products with the iPhone. The iPhone incorporates the functions of cellular phone, iPod, and personal digital assistant and joins them with touch screen and Bluetooth technologies.
Apple also has a series of software programs and operating systems that facilitate and connect their various hardware products. Other than the iTunes software, Apple produced iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band as part of their Mac OS X software suite, catering to the artists and musicians.
Apple Computer Inc designs, manufactures, and markets personal computers and related personal computing and communication solutions. The return of Steve Jobs, the companies founder, as CEO has pulled the company’s stock price up 775-percent through his launch of innovative products such as the iMac computer line. On January 5, 2000, Jobs announced that he was dropping interim from his CEO title and taking the job full-time. With this news and Apple’s new products such as the iBook, a portable pc and Quick TV, an internet television access feature, Apple Computer is headed for success and is sure to increase their share in the computer market.

This first iPod had a 5 GB storage capacity—which is enough to hold over 1,000 songs—and it worked only on Macs, using iTunes as a music organization and CD-to-iPod conversion tool. iTunes, digital jukebox software that let Mac users import songs from CDs by converting audio files to the MP3 format and storing them on the computer’s hard drive, was introduced in January of 2001. Along with the iPod, Apple announced an enhanced version of iTunes that included a 10-band equalizer with presets, as well as a cross fading feature for smoother transitions from one song to another. An Auto Sync capability facilitated the downloading of music from a Mac to the new portable media device. Once the music was downloaded, Apple promised 10 hours of continuous play from the iPod’s rechargeable lithium battery.
