Animal Testing- Is it Right or Wrong?

Everyday, people all around the world use facial products, receive vaccinations and take antibiotics or medications that have been previously tested on animals. Rarely people think about whether or not animals have been tortured to use the products that they are using, but simply only think of themselves and their own well-being. “An estimated 26 million animals are used each year in the United States for scientific and commercial testing” (ProCon.org). Innocent creatures are taken advantage of, for the sake of human health. According to both secular and Jewish sources, animal testing is very unethical. The use of animal testing is wrong, cruel and inhumane towards animals and should be stopped.
Humans have needs, and so do animals; we are all living things. Each day most drink and eat when they desire, and are free to move from place to place. Animals who are used to be tested on do not have this freedom, which most of us humans do. Firstly, according to Humane Society International, the animals used for testing are not treated well, as they are not given the food, water and sleep in appropriate quantities needed to live healthy lives. People have more control, so it is important to provide animals with their needs, or that they are left free to find their necessities themselves, but when they are trapped and being used, this task is impossible for them. On top of that, the animals are tortured. Though animals are unable to communicate with humans, they in a sense, have no voice. This makes the situation worse as the animals are unable to stand up for themselves. As well, though many say that they are not necessarily tortured, there has been proof of many animal experiments using restrai...

Animal Testing: Right or Wrong? Animal Testing Ethics Essay - Animal Testing Ethics Is animal testing right or wrong. No one has really answered that so far. Everyone has their own opinion about it. I personally think that if we are not abusing the testing it should be allowed. I don't think it is necessary to test animals for every little thing that goes on the market but sure why not when it relates to a life or death thing like cancer. How else would we make sure the medications wouldn’t kill us. Safety tests are conducted on a wide range of chemicals and products, including drugs, vaccines, cosmetics, household cleaners, pesticides, foodstuffs, and packing materials....   [tags: Animal Testing] 655 words

Animal Testing is Animal Cruelty Essay - Animal Testing is Animal Cruelty The way I look at animal testing is a form hateful cruelty. None of these people care about if it hurts or kills the animals. The cruelty has been going on long enough and I think it is time to stop. What people do not know is that animal’s react a different way to drugs as humans do, so scientist cannot apply the results to humans. Many animals go through screaming, unbearable, horrific; you cannot even imagine pain when they go through test for products that you use every day such as: Cosmetics, Household Products, Medical Products, even Iams dog products....   [tags: Animal Rights]

Animal Testing Should be Reduced Essay - The common belief is that animal testing has accelerated science and medicine a great deal, but the truth is simple: animal experimentation has not cured a single disease. People have been misled into believing that animal experimentation is responsible for many “miracle cures” and “medical breakthroughs” for decades. The reason is very straightforward: animals differ from humans greatly—too much to be able to have accurate results from experiments. The only progress with infectious disease made in the 20th century was made through improved nutrition, hygiene, and public sanitation....   [tags: Animal Testing] 737 words

Animal Testing in Scientific Research Essay - Animal Testing in Scientific Research Animal testing has been going on since the late nineteenth century. Over the years, billions of animals have been killed from experiments, but the amount of animals tested on has fallen 50% since 1968 and in 1998 reached a 40 year low of only 2.66 million procedures. With that much of a decline, I can’t imagine how many animals were once used and for what purposes. Even with the 50% decline, the number of animals sacrificed for medical and biomedical ends in the United States each year is unknown, but certainly exceeds 60 million and may possibly be as high as 100 million....   [tags: Animal Testing] 823 words
