The Hound of the Baskervilles is a mystery novel with added superstition. Arthur Conan Doyle is the author of The Hound of the Baskervilles. In addition, he is the creator of the legendary Sherlock Holmes, and the Sherlock holms saga. The hound of Baskervilles was not originally supposed to be in the Holmes saga but because of society influence was changed to add Holmes into the mix. Furthermore, Holmes is a legion that Arthur Conan Doyle created that in turn was a success that out lived the author, Doyle. However, The Hound of the Baskervilles is said to be the best mystery novel of all time. Furthermore, it has elements of mystery that add suspense and keep the reader on edge. Arthur Conan Doyle wrote The Hound of the Baskervilles, creating Sherlock Holmes and provided points to overview.
Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character that is an excellent detective. The character Sherlock Holmes tends to analyze, preserve, and humiliate things around him.
Sherlock Holmes has the ability to analysis things around him that normally people would not notice. Holmes ability and skills of observation and the turn of the century scientific culture helps him solve the crime (Cranfield). Moreover, Holmes would use this unique skill to see things that could be used as evidence in a case. At the University of Edinburgh, Doyle discovered the muse for Sherlock Holmes. Dr. Joseph Bell had skill of diagnosing far beyond simple medical; he would study the character and detect certain clues in regard to the subject’s profession and habits. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is the creator of the character Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. He was a Scottish writer and physician, he wrote many things in his life. Doyle did not just write detective mysteries he also fantasy and science fiction stories, plays, romances, poetry, non-fiction and historical novels. Even though he wrote many other thing he is mostly well known for writing all of the canon Sherlock stories. Doyle himself had a career in the medical field there he meet many influential people to base his characters from. A letter was found where he wrote to one of his colleagues whose name was Joseph Bell that the most important traits of his character Sherlock was mostly based on him. He would write the wrong name for major reoccurring characters and not care if the reasoning in his stories was completely illogical, yet he ironically created his own genre of mystery novels that are recognized even to those who have never read them. Doyle unwillingly created the most insane fanbase that is still alive and thriving today. Doyle’s stories are still popular even eighty-four years after his death because they keep readers enthralled with the story. He wrote war stories based on his own exciting experiences, stories that he believed brought him to the height of his writing capabilities, and stories that sent him crashing back down when a frenzy into Spiritualism crumbled his prestige as a writer. His stories manage to capture the reader’s attention, making them timeless classics in the world of literature.
Arthur Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on 22nd May 1859. He attended Edinburgh University and graduated with a degree in medicine, in 1881. He then practised as a doctor from 1882-1891, but not very successfully. Whilst practising as a doctor, in 1887, he published his first short story featuring Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson, “A study in Scarlet”. The Strand magazine, founded in 1890, published a series of Sherlock Holmes stories, this let both the detective and the magazine becoming extremely popular. My essay will be based upon how Doyle creates suspense in the following three short stories; “Silver Blaze”, “The Red-Headed League” and “A Scandal in Bohemia”, and I will be commenting on what impact it may have on the readers.
Thousands of readers made complaints and the once well known cult figure had been feared to be gone forever. For a couple of years Conan Doyle avoided the reader's. complaints but Doyle eventually buckled under stress and wrote a book. called "The Hound of the Baskervilles". I think that Sherlock Holmes is the best fictional character because of all of his unique and outstandingly shocking techniques.
