The purpose of this study is to effectively explore how fat shaming affects the emotional and psychological growth of children involved in it. This research aims to: identify the history of fat shaming; understand how fat shaming is prevalent in the Philippines; discern how fat shaming happen to kids and pinpoint the effects of fat shaming on the emotional and psychological growth of kids. According to Herman (2015) even way before the late 19th century and into the 20th century the presence of fat shaming already existed. This can be seen of how postcards fat women were sold for the tourists all over the West. These postcards are considered to be memes of today and became the center of jokes during this era. Jokes about being fat on this time actually led to Saartjie Haartman, so-called Hottentot Venus a woman who has a fat butt became a center of a sexual freak-show attraction during the 19th century. And when Haartman died Doctor Cuvier dissected her body to confirm if she was a human being and not some beast, and it was because of her fatness.
