Mass communication and technology control the world we live in today. Everywhere you look there are children on game systems, teenagers on phones, and adults on laptops; there is nothing that can be done about it. But this technological revolution isn’t a complete downside when used to our advantage. Technology of our time has the ability to extend the possibilities of human life and communication. Before, for a person to send a letter or make a call it took time and money. Now it just takes a simple email. To understanding the culture and meaning of another place a person had to physically travel there. Now, with just the click of a mouse, a person can be halfway around the world in an instant. People of this time have access to vast amounts of information at their fingertips. This in itself is a huge step in being globally connected. Yet, instead of utilizing the possibilities that technology brings us, we let it go to waste. As the world becomes a smaller, more connected place, being globally aware becomes much more important. It is one of the key things a person must do in order to understand and have a place in the world today, and as Americans, it is one of the things we lack the most of. We, as a people, must re-educate ourselves, as well as teach the future generations, to be prepared for the growing global economy, and the best way to do that is by utilizing today's worldly connections and technology.
The world has changed. It has evolved and Americans must evolve right along with it. The population has been increasing so rapidly and so tremendously over the last few decades, but it isn’t just America; in fact, the relative population of America is becoming miniscule.
