Abortion to me is murder. It doesn't matter on the circumstances at all. The only time that I believe that abortions are necessary is when the mother's life is in a medical danger because of it. I know that a lot of people think that it's okay to have an abortion if the mother was raped. I don't believe that. I believe that if a girl gets raped, she did something to put herself in that position. Now, I'm not saying that it is her fault completely. I can definitely relate to this. I did something to put myself in that kind of danger. I have my accountability. My accountability is I chose to do drugs and dress provocatively because I wanted to get guy's attention.
Another circumstance that really bugs me is,' The pregnancy wasn't intended'. Well, to me I would say that's what happens when you have sex before marriage. I believe that women should wait until marriage to have sexual intercourse. People know what the possibilities are with sex and what prices may have to be paid. I understand that hormones may be going like crazy but people still need to learn how to control this. Let's say this as an example: One day when you're married and your spouse isn't around you get that urge. You end up cheating on your wife or husband and they want an explanation on why. What are you going to tell them, 'Oh sorry honey my hormones were going like crazy I couldn't control myself?! I highly doubt that.
Here's another one. 'I didn't feel like I was ready to be a mom yet?. Then why in the heck are you having sex? Sex has a lot of different consequences to pay. Girls that do get pregnant need to take responsibilities for their own actions.
The reason why I do have energy on this is because I am adopted. My biological mom did not intend on having her second child at the age of 19.
There is no excuse to killing an innocent child and abortion is giving people an excuse. Before a child even has the chance to be born and live, their life is taken away because of the mothers decision. There are so many alternatives to abortion. When a woman doesn’t want to keep her baby or does’t have the ability to take care of it, abortion shouldn 't be the first option taken. There are many options out there to be taken like “Abortion alternative clinics [that] offer services such as adoption referrals, free pregnancy testing, crisis pregnancy counseling, post-abortion counseling, and homes for pregnant women” (Chittom & Newton, 2015). With that many options to choose from, why would a woman choose to take the abortion route? When the abortion is in consideration, many women admitted they were not fully educated on the topic. Chittom and Newton (2015) wrote: “these heart wrenching stories describe the violent reactions these women have had to seeing images similar to what they had done in the process of killing their own babies”. After the abortion process was over, many women were shocked and mortified at how the abortion was preformed. For many, only guilt and sorrow remain since the damage was already done. Flat out plain and simple, abortion is not the right route to take. It kills and innocent baby and puts the mother’s life at risk
At some point in a woman's life, she may think of the idea of having a child. Some young girls are taught at a young age that when she grows up, someday she can have a family of her own if she chooses. When I was a child, I remember my mother and other womanly influences telling me that when I'm older, I might have a family of my own; and in result of this, ever since I was little, I have planned out how many children I want to have, and my expectations of my family life. However, while many women see themselves having children someday, and understand the process of carrying a child, some women might be in the dark about the complications that can come along with pregnancy. Life can throw curve balls, and everything that may have been planned, and thought out clearly might not go as smoothly as expected. There are many complications that can occur from pregnancy for mom and baby. In fact, one of the most common complications to occur is Down syndrome. And while Down syndrome may be very common, many women are making the decision to abort their fetuses once they are aware of the disability.
A Defense of Abortion In her argument on abortion, Judith Thomson discusses some major points about abortion. She deals with extreme cases and those extreme cases help us to realize a single perspective of abortion. For example, she talks about the violinist attached to you. In that example, you keep everything constant and focus on a single point, violinist being dead if you unattached him.
Every day, an overwhelming amount of human beings’ lives are terminated. The culprit: unwanted pregnancies. Many woman are (not by choice), becoming pregnant as a result of unsafe sex, rape, and other things. So what is one to do when they discover that they’re pregnant? They have some alternatives: (1) have the child and raise it (2) have the child, then give it up for adoption (3) get an abortion. Sadly, many women choose alternative three, unaware of what they’re getting themselves into.
Abortions are very selfish and a cruel way to end pregnancy. Abortions wouldn’t be needed if females would take responsibility and either use contraception or own up to their mistakes. Abortion is murder no matter how you look at it and murderers should be punished for their actions. Choose to be pro-life and stand up for the innocent babies that can’t.
As some would identify NFTA as a moderate alternative to banning abortion, potential alternatives for women to abort a baby will increase if the bill became a law. Distressed women would have to look to other resources to terminate a pregnancy. In terms of terminating a pregnancy, there are no other options outside of abortion. This will lead to increase of discarding newborns; a need to open more Safe Havens; managed care organizations (MCOs) will be targeted. In Illinois, a 19-year-old Chicago woman is facing charges of dropping her newborn daughter from an eighth-floor window in Uptown, killing the baby, because she feared discovery of the pregnancy by her family (chicago tribune). There are numerous of similar stories that happens nationally
Abortion is the process of terminating a pregnancy by removing the embryo or fetus before birth. Since abortion became legal in the United States in 1973 after the Roe v. Wade trials, there has been many disputes and debates on whether or not the practice of abortion is ethical or not. While many people believe that a woman should have the right to her own body and be able to terminate her pregnancy if she desires to do so, others argue that it is murder. There are many arguments for and against abortion. My points in this paper for the PROs of abortions are #1, Abortions Procedures and #2, women’s rights. I will talk about how abortion being legal offers a safe abortion procedure, and how and why it is a woman 's right to choose what is best
Since the Darwinian Revolution of the 19th century our society has turned upside down. Everything under the sun had become questionable, the origin of life, how we came to be, where are we headed and what to do in the here all became questions in life. But one of the greatest impacts of this new age thinking is its effect on our Old World values. Western societies values, morals and ethics became debatable, with some people striving for change and others clinging for stability. Battle lines had been drawn and the Liberals and Conservatives were ready to duke it out on a number of issues. One of these debates centers on a woman?s right to have and abortion. According to the Webster?s dictionary and abortion is defined as a miscarry, something misshapen or unnatural. An abortion is a procedure in which an embryo or fetus is prohibited from developing by artificial means. One could argue that this is next to murder. How can we as a society sanction the murdering of developing babies? Also it can equally be stated that abortion is unnatural and a health hazard to women who have undergone the procedure. Whatever the case, abortion should be outlawed because it is immoral and mothers should face the responsibilities of their actions. Many arguments can be used in order to put an end to abortion or at least in order to establish dialogue. One of the oldest arguments against abortion is the religious standpoint. Western society (Canada & U.S.A.) is historically a Judeo-Christian culture with Judeo-Christian values. Although in recent times we have become an increasingly pluristic society the Old World thinking is still at the heart of our social relations and laws. The Bible says ?Thou shalt not kill? thus prohibiting people from harming others or themselves. Abortion and its advocates violate this law. They seek to change one of the most fundamental values of our society. Pro-choice under this stance is equated with murder and ?playing God?. One may raise the question, how can a minority inflict its views of the majority? According to Francis X. Meenan, this is a false assumption. He goes on to claim that those who favor abortion on demand are the real minority (Bender & Leone, 97). He also claims that the issue of abortion is a moral debate and cannot be settled by numbers. So even if pro-choice advocates outnumbered pro-life advocates, this would prove or...
When it comes to abortion I believe that it should always be left up to the woman to make the decision on whether to keep her baby or not. Having a baby is no eas...
Women who have become pregnant should take the responsibility for their actions in becoming pregnant. This excludes the argument of “What if the woman was raped?” In the case of a rape, I still believe abortion is not the right way to handle the grief, guilt and depression that a woman may experience after finding out that she has become pregnant after being raped. To abort the baby won’t get rid of the pain a woman has been feeling as a result of the traumatic experience she had been through. I believe that aborting the baby will make things even more difficult. There is always the opportunity to give the child to a loving family who may not be able to conceive a child on their own. Abortion to me though, in my opinion, will always be wrong. I believe that the act of aborting an unborn baby is to be considered murder. I have many reasons as to why I feel this way. First, I believe that an unborn baby is still a human being and their life is as precious as anyone else’s life. Most women do not know they are pregnant as soon as their baby starts developing. 3-4 weeks, or as early as 18 days, after conception, a baby’s heart will start to beat. This to me means the baby is a living creature, a human being at that point. According the website beginbeforebirth.org, it is stated at about 17 weeks
In a pluralistic culture of unwanted pregnancy, there exists a contradiction between a relative sense of morality and the democratic ideal of free choice. Aristotle provided the first written record of this irresolvable contradiction in his book Politics, saying, "When couples have children in excess, let abortion be procured before sense and life have begun; what may or may not be lawfully done in these cases depends on the question of life and sensation." (1) The controversy has always consisted of two sides: "Pro-Lifers", who believe that abortion is morally wrong and should not be allowed, and "Pro-Choicers", who support the woman's right to choose the outcome of her pregnancy in all cases. There is also a large group of people who fall somewhere in between, believing that abortion should only be allowed under certain circumstances. To this day, abortion continues to be a topic of dispute, with each side offering many of the same arguments that have been offered for several millennia. Those concerned with the issue saw this played out most recently in the presidential election, a very close race in which abortion was a key factor in many citizens' votes.
Abortion is one of America’s most controversial subjects. The participants in this debate have fixed beliefs on the matter at hand. On one side of the debate are people who believe in pro- choice. They argue that choice of a woman is more important than an unborn fetus. They point out that an unborn child is not on the same level of importance as the mother. Also, the pro-life group declares that choice is the sole purpose behind their argument. They believe that if a woman cannot chose to abolish a pregnancy, then she looses one of her basic human rights. The other side of the debate is the pro-life group. Their main concern is that the fetus is a person; therefore, having the same human rights as the mother. As a result, when states pass laws that enable abortions, these states are legalizing murder. When considering an individual’s ethics and values, killing is morally wrong. Therefore, the termination of unborn children is wrong, as well. Abortion, the unethical expulsion of an embryo or fetus, in order to purposely end a pregnancy, should be forbidden because human life begins at conception, economics is not a justification for abortion, and an unwanted child does not justify abortion.
One of the most controversial issues in this day and age is the stance people take on abortion. The two main positions that people take are either of pro-choice or pro-life; both sides, although polar opposites, tend to refer to both the issue of morality and logical rationale. The pro-life side of the debate believes that abortion is an utterly immoral practice that should be abolished. On the contrary, abortion should remain a legal procedure because it is a reproductive right; its eradication would not only take away the pregnant person’s autonomy, but would also put more children in financially unstable homes and the adoption system, and would cause an increase in potentially fatal, unsafe abortions.
Abortion is one of the most debatable subjects in our society. There are many different points of views when it comes to this sensitive topic. Initially when I started researching the topic I was almost certain that I would fall into the category of Pro-life individuals. However, after thinking long and hard and taking rape into consideration I have to say my views have changed completely. Although I am still against abortion, I think there should be certain exceptions made for women who are sexually assaulted and become pregnant from the rape. Hopefully after reading the research information I am providing, you will also take into consideration an abortion in the event of rape.
What would be your reaction if you had a teenager come home pregnant? Many teenagers fear their parents if they have to bring home a bad report card. Others may have a fear if they get into trouble at school. Although these fears are substantial, young women experience a fear that young men do not. Becoming pregnant is a serious fear for young women that engage in sexual intercourse. Often times a teen mother’s answer to this situation is abortion or an illegal abortion. Teen abortion can be somewhat difficult to get in many states without having parental consent or notification. These laws make it unsafe for the teen mother and unborn child. Teen abortion should be allowed without having to have parental consent. The mortality rate of teen mothers and babies would decrease significantly if this were the case. Sadly, each year in the United States the age of young girls who are sexually active decreases. At this rate there are many unwanted and unplanned pregnancies. “One in three abortions in the U.S. are performed on teens” (Torr 91). That is a very high statistic that young women have created due to their adult decisions.” Teens are sometimes reluctant to practice birth control because it is not romantic” (Emmens 13). Teens tend to believe that they should not use birth control, because they do not think that they will get pregnant. The lack of birth control may result in pregnancy. Once a teenager gets pregnant she may not know what to do next. Teenagers usually become nervous and unsure of whether to tell someone or just keep the pregnancy a secret. When they keep the pregnancy a secret it puts them in danger as well as the unborn child. Planned Parenthood Federation of America is the nation's leading sexual and reproductive health care advocate and provider. “We believe that everyone has the right to choose when or whether to have a child, and that every child should be wanted and loved” (Suarez 2). Planned Parenthood allows a teenager to make safe decisions without including the teen’s parents. In many states where they have Planned Parenthood facilities the teenagers have more options. Teenagers that want birth control and/or an abortion can receive services, as well as information from a doctor. The doctors at this clinic encourage young women to tell their parents of their choice of abortion.
