No one hates music. If there is one, he must be a liar. Most people listen to the music. Music can represent the joy of love and also describe the sorrow of farewell. When people want to get rid of some stress, they shout and sing along with their favorite songs. Now music and life are bound up with each other, enough to be called an inextricable connection. Music has been developed by following the human society, and its developmental steps are very similar to the growth of ideology. For example, one concept became a major of society, and then other concept tried to be against the major. Rock ‘n’ Roll Rock ‘n’ roll was a controversial yet fashionable genre of popular music that emerged in the early 1950s (America in the World, 1776 to the Present : A Supplement to the Dictionary of American History: Mâ€'Z, Index. 2016, p896-899.). Its origin is also started from the revolution of bourgeois. The younger generation had gone through the Second World War, though, the older generation had treated kids. Two generations that had each world war had divided. A lot of the pain and anger felt by the younger generation made them to resist against the social establishment. As a result, the war had created a gulf between generations but further reduced the gap between blacks and whites. The youth of the 1950s felt unconnected to their society and began looking at the world more globally, and also began looking for new role models who reflected their ideas and beliefs. They knew that ideas of old generation would no longer work in a modern society. Thus several young leaders stood out and took center stage that setting the pace for the direction of society and its music form that point on. At this time, technical innovations had emerged such as electric guitar and electric bass. This is the impetus of creation of music including rock ‘n’
One of the similarities is about lyrics. Blues tried to express the common feeling of African-Americans such as love and deep sorrow. Rock ‘n’ roll also tried to express the common things or feelings of the younger generations. The common shared subjects of lyrics of rock ‘n’ roll were about car, stress form society, love, and rebellion. The important thing is that blues was also representative of rebellion of African-Americans, though blues was more unrevealed which means an indirect reference. However, rock ‘n’ roll was more obvious and open. For example, Rock around the Clock, the original sound track of Blackboard jungle, was number one for eight weeks, and the movie was about the rebellion of teenagers and violence. The other similarity is a musical structure. Rock 'n' roll uses simple three chords and has AAB pattern in most of songs. However, even though blues and rock ‘n’ roll is the relationship of father and son, there are some differences between blues and rock ‘n’ roll to justify each genre. If blues is created from African-Americans, rock ‘n’ roll is a result of mixture of blacks music and whites music. Rock 'n' roll has the chorus following the lyrics which is the aspect of whites music.
