The second and third line of one of Tupac’s most famous songs creates deep emotion-filled thoughts about the listener’s self in a presently oppressed society. Tupac Shakur is the most well-known rappers of all-time and has made a major impact on the rap industry because of his capability to be poetic while being a gangster rapper at the same ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬time. This marvelously superb song shows Tupac’s more proactive side by educating everyone about and tackling African American Social issues. When you are constantly being treated unfairly as an individual, simply because of your skin color, you are going to do everything in your power to end it, which is what Tupac Shakur was trying to accomplish by publishing this song. There is no hidden message or imagery encoded or embedded in to the song. The title is straightforward so you can grasp what the song is going to be about. His speech over the beat is probably the clearest cut and important part of the song to understand. He raps, "It 's time for us as a people to start makin ' some changes. Let 's change the way we eat, let 's change the way we live and let 's change the way we treat each other. You see the old way wasn 't working so it 's on us to do what we gotta do, to survive." Tupac repeats throughout the song that he sees no changes and truly want to see minorities rise and make changes to benefit them and their communities. When African Americans had no one trying to inspire them to rise and take a stand, Tupac tried to rise to the occasion and be an unelected leader for African Americans somewhat like Martin Luther King Junior, Malcolm X, and Huey P.
