Abortion has been one of the most controversial issues in the world that people debate for last few decades to determine whether the abortion is another type of killing or not. United States government has legalized abortion to every state with the limited circumstances. In this paper, I will discuss the value of life principle and the principle of individual freedom. I will also focus on different stages in the development the conceptus in the life design to determine ideal time of the beginning life for human in different perspectives between the antiabortion (pro-life) group and the abortion-on-request (pro-choice) group.
Antiabortion and abortion-on-request groups argue on the abortion in terms of the genetic view; however, we cannot judge when the human life begins in terms of genetic views. Pro-life group considers human life begins at conception and applies the value of life to the terms embryo, fetus, and conceptus (Thiroux 229). The development stages of the conceptus provided in our textbook is following.
1. One cell divides into two and then four, and the egg has embedded itself on the walls inside of the womb by the sixth day (Thiroux 227).
2. the forming embryo is about two millimeters long by the third week and starts to develop various parts of the body (Thiroux 227).
3. By the end of the fourth week, the size of embryo becomes five millimeters. Its tube-shaped heart is starting to beat; it has gill-like arches and a pronounced tail; and it looks something like a newt or a tadpole (Thiroux 227).
4. “By the fifth week, gross divisions of the brain can be distinguished and developing eyes and limb buds appears” (Thiroux 227).
5. “By the sixth week, it is 13 millimeters (about half an inch long); its eyes are still on the side of the head, as in most animals, and its reptilian face has connected slits where the mouth and nose eventually will be” (Thiroux 228).
6. The tail is almost gone by the end of the seventh week and sexual characteristics can be distinguished, and the face is mammalian but somewhat pig-like (Thiroux 228).
7. “By the end of the eighth week, the face resembles a primate’s but it is still not quite human; some lower brain anatomy is well developed, and the fetus shows some reflex response to delicate stimulation” (Thiroux 228).
8. After tenth weeks, the face has an unmistakable human look, and it begins to be possible to distinguish sex of the fetus (Thiroux 228).

In the US, 89% of abortions are performed during the first trimester of a woman 's pregnancy. Approximately 115,000 abortions are done per day in the US and at least 25 and younger women have a 50% of having an abortion. This paper will reflect on the moral status of abortion, a fetus having value to life, alternative options instead of abortion and rape being an exception. The conservative point feels a fetus should be given full moral status. They should be given full moral status because in the early weeks of development they are developing major organs. A fetus should be given the right to continue to fully develop so that they have the opportunity to contribute to society. If an abortion occurs, it does not give a fetus the opportunity
By day 22, the child’s heart begins to pump with their own blood. By week 5 the child’s eyes, legs, and hands begin to develop. By weeks 9 and 10 the baby is able to turn its head and frown. This article also shares with us that by the 20th week gestation, the baby can recognize its mother’s voice. And lastly it gives us the last steps before the baby is born; 7 to 9 months gestation is when the baby is using four of the five senses. He knows the difference between waking and sleeping and can relate to the moods of the
The length of a normal and healthy pregnancy is 38 weeks since conception. During the 38 weeks (9 months) the baby is developing in stages in the utero. The 38 weeks are divided into three periods of development, the period of the zygote, the period of the embryo, and the period of the fetus. The period of the fetus begins during the ninth week and is fully developed by 38 weeks. Weight gain slowly occurs at the start of the fetus period, and
They seemed to have had a touch of success when the nucleus of a fibroblast had appeared to divide but it never completed. It took 71 eggs from seven volunteers before they could create their first cloned embryo. Out of the eight eggs with cumulus cells, two of them divided to form early embryos of four cells and another went to at least six cells before it stopped growing.

Throughout this discovery process there have been many questions that have guided the scientific community towards finding answers. One of the earlier questions was “how does the embryo take form and differentiate to become an organised organism?”
You begin life as a single cell, formed when the sperm fertilises the egg. Out of all the sperm it only takes one sperm and one egg to fertilise at conception. This is called fertilization; which takes place in the Fallopian tube, the fertilized egg then divides
The Female reproduction cycle includes seven key parts; FSH, LH, estrogen progesterone, ovulation, menstruation and pregnancy. When fertilization occurs, the egg will begin to divide through mitosis. After several divisions a cluster of cells surrounding the embryo, called a blastocyst implantation .Where they attach to the uterine wall by the secretion of enzymes. Within a few days of this process the uterus will continually divide , the embryo; Releasing hormones to keep the corpus luteum functioning for a few weeks to allow nourishment and protection to reach and line the uterus. Then membrane like chorionic villi are formed to help with protection. These form an essential organ called the placenta; the connection between mother and embryo. This serves as the embryo’s main source of nourishment.
Through every choice in life, there is a decision that must follow. Abortion is a woman’s individual choice; therefore, must be a legal part in todays society. Individual rights have an outstanding role in the controversial topic, on whether abortion should become legal in the United States . The individual rights for abortion show rights of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. As well, women should be able to have the choice to choose to have an abortion for several important reasons. The right to make these decisions should lie in the hands of the “mother” to make decisions concerning their own to make decisions concerning their own bodies. In addition, women should be given the choice to have an abortion if they are too young and unable to take care their child financially or emotionally. Additionally, the right to have an abortion is if the pregnancy negatively affects the woman's or the baby's health. Without abortions as a choice for the “mother” to resort to while she is going through hardship on deciding whether to keep the baby or not, the endless possibilities could negatively influence the mother to put her and the baby in a dangerous positions.
During the sixth week of pregnancy the crown-to-rump ( referring to the length of the baby from the top of the head to its bottom, this term is used because it 's hard to measure from head to toe because the babies are usually curled up with their legs tucked under.) length of the baby is about 2-4mm long. At this point in the pregnancy some of the facial features are now visible even the mouth and tongue. Also the outline of the jaw is starting to
A male makes one thousand new sperm per second, that is two trillion over a lifetime and they all are one of a kind, very unique. A woman has all her eggs from birth. The process starts out as meiosis, this is where 30,000 genes are then there are forty six chromosomes. Twenty three comes from your mother and twenty three come from your father, they only come together in meiosis in pairs, but they are not the same. Chromosomes make an exact copy of themselves then they condense making an X shape, chromosomes get a partner then embrace. The chromosomes cling close together in big chunks, the cell then divides pulling the pair apart with twenty three chromosomes. The cell alone is incomplete, but holds many promises. Every cell holds di...

Abortion has been accepted by the United States of America ever since the monumental Roe vs. Wade case in the early 1970’s, but is still a very controversial issue. Many people are for and against abortions. Some people say that the child inside its mother’s womb deserves the opportunity to live, while others believe that a mother has the right to choose whether or not her fetus can live or die. Other advocates for abortion claim that abortion helps keep the threat of overpopulation down. They also say that in many extreme cases, it is in the best interest of the mother and the child that the fetus be aborted. Abortion helps keep the crime rate low, so it should remain legal, they also say.
This process is called conception, the female is now officially two weeks pregnant and the fertilized egg is called a zygote. Let’s move on to pregnancy. Pregnancy is a state in which a woman carries a fertilized egg inside her body, it usually lasts up to 40 weeks, and it is divided into three trimesters, each lasting three months. The first month. The embryo is about a third of an inch long. The head, trunk, and the beginnings of the arms and legs have started to develop. By this month, the embryo starts to receive nutrients and releases waste through the umbilical cord and placenta. The heart also starts to beat. The second month. The heart is now pumping and the nervous system, including the brain and the spinal cord begins to develop. The fetus is 1 in 2.5cm now and has developed cartilage skeleton. The arms, legs, facial features and other major organs begin to appear. The third month. The fetus has grown up to 4 in 10cm and weighs a little more than an ounce. The major blood vessels are almost completed and the face starts to show up more. The kidneys and the 4 chambers of the heart are now complete. The fourth month. The fetus is now 4 oz of 112g and can kick and swallow. The
