Abortion: Pro-Choice is the Wrong Choice

Ronald Regan (1983) said “Abortion is advocated only by persons who have themselves been born” (pg. N/A). He was saying that a person who had a chance to live is ending the life of another person, who wasn’t allowed an opportunity to say whether or not he/she wanted to live. So abortion should not be considered as the only way to get out of a pregnancy because the woman could get breast cancer after the abortion process is over, the person may experience psychological damage due to aborting the child, and the woman is ending a human life. The first reason abortions should not be allowed is because the woman could get breast cancer after having the abortion. According to Hern (2006) “In medical practice, there are few surgical procedures given so little attention and so underrated in its potential hazards as abortion ,and it is a commonly held view that complications are inevitable” (pg.1). So Hern was saying that problems may occur after a woman has had an abortion, but many doctors do not tell you all the problems that may arise after the abortion. Another thing to consider is "Induced abortion before first term pregnancy increases the risk of breast cancer." (Lancet, 2/22/86, p. 436). If a woman was to have an abortion it would be better for her to wait after the first term to decrease the risk of breast cancer. The Catholic Medical Association (2003) states that “ 29 out of our 38 epidemiological studies show an increase of women with breast cancer and 30% of that is women who have had an abortion” (pg.1). So as you can see after having an abortion you may get breast cancer; Even though the doctor may tell you that the procedure is full-proof and nothing can or will go wrong. The second reason a woman should not want to g...

...s like hiccupping, squinting, and frowning, etc (Monahan, 2003, Para. 1-15). (I could go through all nine months, but I just want you to get the gist of what I am trying to say). When you get an abortion you are indeed terminating a human life. Nevertheless you are ending the life of a person who did not get a chance to strive to be all that he/she could be. So as you can see although abortion is prevalent among many women in our society it should not be viewed as a positive thing because the woman can acquire some sort of disease after the abortion process is over, psychological damage may occur after the abortion, and it ends a human life. Ronald Reagan (1983) definitely made a point when he said “Abortion is advocated only by persons who have themselves been born.” So what do you think of abortion now, that I have stated some valid points that do not support it?
