Abortion is wrong because it is the killing of an innocent baby. Many people today think that there is nothing wrong with having an abortion. But not only is it killing a baby, it can also cause long term effects on the person getting the abortion. Some people can bleed to death while others may have fertility issues afterwards. This paper will state exactly what abortion is, statistics on abortion, the Church and cultural views of having an abortion, and other options than having an abortion such as adoption.
Abortion is when a baby is purposely killed inside a mother’s womb. There are many different types of abortion procedures. One type of procedure is a spontaneous abortion. A spontaneous abortion is an abortion that happens naturally. This kind of abortion happens when the uterus rejects an abnormal embryo. A spontaneous abortion is often referred to as a miscarriage (Abortion Funk & Wagnalls). An abortion that is purposely performed to end a pregnancy is an induced abortion. An induced abortion is often performed by a surgical procedure. In the early stage of pregnancy, there is a drug that will end the pregnancy if taken. About eighteen percent of abortions are done by taking this drug (Abort 73). A therapeutic abortion is an induced pregnancy performed when the health of the mother would be endangered if the pregnancy continued (Abortion Funk & Wagnalls). A curettage abortion is a procedure where the baby’s limbs are suctioned out of the mother’s womb. Afterwards any parts of the body will be scraped out using a surgical instrument called a curette. ...etting a chance to have a child. Instead of killing a baby, the child is given a chance at life and is being put in a good home. Also the mother will not have to go through the physical and mental pain of having an abortion. In conclusion abortion should me illegal because a baby is still a living person and deserves to have a great life.
