Churches all over the United States have been shrinking for years and the Protestants have lost more than 1 millions members. So when you hear that a new mega church emerges of every two day it is hard to believe. How is that even possible?
But the fact is that the Evangelism is the fastest growing religion in the United States today. Around 26% of the country is white evangelical and 10% are black evangelical, which makes evangelism the largest force in U.S. Religion. There are many reasons for why Evangelism is so fast growing, and one of them is that the evangelism churches will almost do anything to attract new “followers” and they have started o become more like business with a marketing strategy than a preaching of the gospel an Jesus Christ.
As said the Evangelism Churches are borrowing tools and models from marketing and the business world. The evangelism churches really want to have a broad target group and show that there is a church for everyone. The reason for this is that now a day people do not attend church just because there is a bible study group or someone they know is attending. They need to be able to do something that interests them. So the evangelism churches try to show that their churches are not only a place for worship but also a place that provide physical needs and wants, like food. The Evangelism Churches are also reaching out to people with different “needs”, like people who are feeling lonely and don’t have a partner, have a depression, need anger management or other emotional or mental difficulties. The last kind of strategy that the Evangelism Churches are borrowing is that the churches try to have as many specialized services for all kind of different people in all areas of life. So the evange...

...What education or school would be best for me, what are the consequences and costs of my choices? So religion and spirituality can, for someone, help to show us the way forward by giving us some guidelines and answers.
But even though some churches, like the evangelism churches, may seem a little extreme in their methods to attract newcomers and they seem like they are about to forget the true meaning of churches. The whole vision and mission on creating a church that fits everybody and offers hope and comfort is the important thing. It does not matter if your church is small, a mega church or online and serving is transmitted on television. It does not matter if you church only offers a bible study group or it has groups and classes that might seem weird or misfit as long as you have found amenity within the words of the Lord and your fellowship.
The thesis of the book Deep and Wide by Adam Stanley is simply put as making a church that the unchurched can’t resist to attend. This book may cause controversy in some Christian circles by leaving a traditional church view of the church’s purpose being for the churched, however, in this paradigm shift Stanley presents that the church’s purpose should be to reach the unchurched in order for people to receive the Gospel that would never step foot into a traditional church. Stanley has shown results with this mission and method by North Point Churches growth from its start with him as a church planter and senior pastor. Deep and Wide challenges the pastor to refocus and seriously convict them
I agree with Kitchens, Mead, and Roxburgh who all basically say in their own way that one change in ministry that we need to focus on more is the congregational life of the church. However, I think Mead explains it best when he says that the future church must be more intentional in the spiritual formation of its laity (Mead, location 919). According to Mead, the church is moving towards becoming a more missional institution that cares for the needs of the community. Therefore, oftentimes laity will be the ones on the front lines and will need the capacity to minister to people on their own without the help of clergy. In order to do this they will need more directed and intensive training to deal with...
Religious institutions have always been a fundamental piece of American culture, and their influence is evident in many aspects of American life. Especially during the 20th century, the spread of Christianity became more competitive as churches vied against one another to draw in new members. This was particularly evident in the development and growth of conservative Protestant groups. Protestant leaders responded to this competition for followers by developing radically new methods for the worship experience. They used their charisma and entrepreneurial spirit to send their messages to the masses. Protestant leader’s manipulation of these methods of outreach was able to attract many new members to the conservative protestant cause, and encouraged Americans to join these large groups of worship.
The church or Ecclesia, as it is called in the original Greek language, regardless of size, are the called out ones who assemble to represent the Body and life of Jesus Christ. They engage in meetings of praise, worship, and listening to the Word of God, which is taken from their manual called the Holy Bible, or the Scriptures; those bringing the message are considered to be the mouthpieces for God, and are typically called preachers (KJV, Eph 5.23-32). According to the Bible, the church, which includes the preachers, is to strive to exemplify the type of life that Jesu...
I like the structured way of a church, and I like feeling like I am actually in church when I go. Although I do not attend church often, when I do go I want to feel like I am there for a reason and going and sitting in an auditorium does not seem like I am there to celebrate Jesus. Church was something that I was forced to do as a kid, as I’ve grown over the years and especially throughout college I find myself having a better experience in church because of knowing more about the bible. A lot of times when I was in church as a little girl even up through high school I did not really comprehend when was going on in church and what was being talked about. This is because I had little to no knowledge about the bible, knowing the different parts of the bible will help you understand what happens in church and what the different stories they are talking about mean. I think it is important to continue to grow in a church mindset, but I also don’t want to be pressured into learning more when I am not ready
Protestantism and Pentecostalism has risen to 15% of the population. Their members are mostly poor or part of the working class. Their ministers are from the same social class as its members, unlike catholicism where most priests come from the elites of the neighborhood. The rise of evangelicals has surprised the region and has grown exponentially.
All of us have encountered someone in our lifetime – a family member, a co-worker, a neighbor, or an acquaintance – who asked us WHY? Why do we pour all of our talents, all of our gifts, and all of our service into church?
Which resulted in making the churches dedicated powerful forces to be reckoned with in the United States. Thus making some Evangelicals delighted with the heavy influence they had over people through their
These practices vary between the many branches: Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodox churches, the Anglican communion and the tens of thousands of Protestant faith groups. Thousands of groups of protestants are divided into Liberal and Conservative wings. Christianity is the religion of 33% of the population, making it the largest religion in the world. Christianity is growing at a rate of 2.3% increase each year. " (Consultants)
“Today, God is creating wave after wave of people receptive to the Gospel; more people are receptive to the Good News. However, churches are missing the spiritual waves because they haven’t been taught the needed skills to bring revival, health, and explosive growth.” We need to ask “What is keeping our church from growing?” not “What will make our church grow?” Some places to start questioning would be - first review the pastor of the church; are they being the example? Then to the church leader(s), staff and volunteers; are they qualified? Followed by the programs of the church; are they supporting your mission statement? There are many more question to be asked and answered. However, I believe through the lectures, training and guidance given from pastoral leadership 201 I will be able to answer this question:
To begin exploring the purpose of the church, it is important to realize that there are a few different aspects of ministry. The different kinds of ministry include ministry to God, ministry to other Christians and telling the world about what Jesus did on the cross for their sins by way of
Topics such as evolution and the existence of God were not brought up in traditional churches because keeping quiet and quietly receiving whatever the pastor or priest chose the sermon to be was required. The priest or pastor chose a certain parable or message in the bible and evaluated its meaning to the congregants. Roman Catholics believe in working out one’s salvation while adherents of non-denominational churches stress fellowship and the belief that one’s salvation is not dependent on works. Groups and activities in megachurches to denominational churches have different purposes and goals to be achieved. Roman Catholic churches celebrate sainthood and charitable acts done for the poor while megachurches hold activities that increase fellowship among members and enhance many biblical principles. “From modern Christian rock in their services to elaborately designed yet highly attractive Web pages, megachurches—as with many others in the modern era—effectively use the most modern media and communication methods to “preach the Word” and attract believers” (Weight
As my friend Jenni and I entered the hall of the big church, a feeling of apprehension overwhelmed us. Our feelings were soon comforted when we entered a sea of smiling faces and outstretched hands. A sense of belonging engulfed us. Ms. Shirley, an older colored woman was first to extend her arms. She did not know us from Adam, but it did not matter. She threw her arms around us. "You girls have the prettiest smiles", she declared. "I am so glad you came to be with us this morning." Words can not describe what the act of kindness did to our feelings of apprehension, and that was just the beginning.
...at it attracts the younger demographics. The interior of these structures are designed and decorated with flat screen televisions and projection equipment that is used instead of the traditional hymnals. Scriptures and song are projected using PowerPoint presentations. These are things that the younger generation can relate to and many of the older generation do not care for. This in turn attracts the younger demographics to the megachurches.
By this I mean that I have attended Churches that average one hundred people every Sunday and the average age was about thirty-five to fourty-five. Now that particular church was able to successfully put together dramas throughout the year. However I have also attended churches that averaged fifteen people every Sunday and the average demographics were aged around seventy-eight. Unfortunately not all churches can participate and have all the arts programs in the church when the entire congregation averages fifteen people. So I believe it all depends on the context and the reality of every individual church. However, I also believe that if the times are right for God, He can build a Church, but at the same time, I believe if the time is right, God can also close a Church, or amalgamate a few churches
