Lots of things in life come in different sizes; foods come in family size, value size, snack size, and even miniature packages. Everybody has a preference to size and must make the decision on which size suits them best. This size preference refers to more than the bag of chips that a person buys at the supermarket. Horses also come in different sizes and people have to decide which size will satisfy their equine needs. The different options that a horseman can pick from are draft horses, light horses, and ponies; in layman’s terms large, medium, and small. Draft horses are those that have hooves the size of dinner plates, typically stand over six feet tall, weight up to a ton, and are best suited as work horses. These gentle giants have a calm disposition and are willing to do what is asked of them.Three of the most popular breeds of draft horse are Belgians, Percherons, and Clydesdales. Belgians are a light brown to bay color and typically have more muscle mass than the other breeds. These stocky drafts used for field work, horse pulls, and the show arena. Percherons usually are colored dark grey, white-grey, or black. Since Percherons are lighter than belgians, they are typically used for less strenuous work and are heavily used for horse. Budweiser Clydesdales have become infamous through the Super Bowl commercials produced by the Anheuser-Busch Brewing Company. Now there are more Clydesdales than just the ones in the Budweiser herd, and these black or brown hairy giants are used for field work and for shows. Draft horses are not for those with the light of heart...or wallet. Expenses pile up with these monstrosities because they eat a lot more than any other horse, need bigger horse shoes than any other type, and need m...

...ht inches. Miniature horses come in many shapes and builds, but they normally are well-tempered when used as show horses, cart horses, or companions. Ponies require the least amount of pasture of any equine and the least amount of hay and grain. These small bundles of joy can be used for a variety of activities, make great companions, and are perfect for a child’s first equine.
Equines come in an array of statures: draft, light horse, pony or large, medium, and small respectively. Different sizes have their best uses, although many of them can do similar tasks. Cost varies with each type with the larger types costing more money, time, and energy. Horses of every size continue to bring people joy and remain prevalent in our society. When a horseman is in the market for a new steed, he must decide if he will go for the supersized version or the miniature package.

Barrel racing is categorized under the sport of rodeo and is most likely associated with the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association and the National Barrel Horse Association. The sport of rodeo also includes bull riding, team roping, and tie down roping and can be mostly associated with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. Even though the sport of rodeo is mainly dominated by men, barrel racing is the biggest outlet for women to show their skills in such a male dominated sport. Even though any breed is allowed to participate in barrel racing, the American Quarter horse is the most predominant breed in the sport mainly because it is the most versatile of all breeds and has the speed and agility to bend around the barrels. When it comes to the types or bloodlines of the horse, it is more of a personal opinion.

For decades, Scientists have contemplated the idea of using horses for the personal gain of children and adults with needs such as autism, heart conditions, anxiety, stress, and other disorders that have yet to be curable. Horses such as Chester, a twenty year old gelding has encouraged more young riders who face difficulties such as social skills, behavior skills, and those who are physically indisposed. The phrase confidence is key, becomes important when people of all ages interact with a horse. Deficient diets result in weight loss in the horse. Alternate causes of weight loss are internal parasites and diseases. Excess energy intake causes obesity which stresses joints and reduces athletic ability. A horse in moderate physical condition is described as “Back level”. Ribs cannot be visually distinguished, but can be easily felt.
As the ancient civilizations of the west grew their empires, they encountered something so powerful, beastly, and strong that no man could hold down with his own two bare hands, nor could they be tamed. As centuries go on, men learned the ways of the horse and learned to ride upon their backs. They found them to be a key component in transportation, carrying goods, and warfare. As time went on, for every footprint of a human left behind in the wet mud, there was a hoof print not far from the footprint. Ancient Greeks believed that the horse was a gift from the gods, and they were greatly valued in their society.
... suggests additional research by investigating medication guidelines, while the veterinarians regulating them could confuse the discussion, reveals unity among the industry to operate with the same drug rules by one national advisory group. However, by applying this analysis to restore people 's idea of speculation is interesting in order to restore America’s hobby as the essential component of respectable character, because leaders should psychologically and politically try to regain confidence in fans and participants from the sport by changing the way horse racing appears in the society. Even if racinos consume and complicate racing by taking the focus away from the greatest extent of fascination such as the race, tracks could resemble amusement areas to invite families and modern generations to compete which possibly argues a nobler atmosphere to sponsor a horse.
When riding a horse you don’t just sit there and do nothing, You work hard to control a 800-1000 pound animal. You have to push your horse and yourself to the greatest you can be. Every competitor has a question when showing. The question that may come up is what breed of horse do judges prefer? The real answer is that judges don’t necessarily care what breed of horse you have. Their real focus is on the the horse's structure and confirmation. Confirmation includes your horse’s balance and degree of muscling. However, some experts say the American Quarter horse is the best breed to show, “perhaps nowhere else is the breed’s versatility, heritage and work ethic more apparent than in the show arena” (“AQHA Competition Classes”). American Quarter horses are better for showing because “they change leads precisely, easily, and simultaneously” (“AQHA Competition Classes”). Regardless of the horse’s breed, any horse can be trained to do well in the show ring.

he topic for my quarter project was Equine Genetics. I was interested in this topic because I have always had a love for horses and a curiosity for what caused them to be so different throughout the breeds. I was raised with horses and began riding before I could walk. My passion has grown as I’ve become more experienced, and now, I want to ride horses for a living. I started riding western in 4-H and various saddle clubs but when I was about 8 years old, I discovered a hidden passion for english riding, specifically eventing. After being to many, many shows and seeing so many different horses, I began to wonder what made them so different. My father works very close to a world-renowned equine judge and expert in conformation, Richard Shrake,
The horse industry has an annual economic impact around $300 billion dollars, 4.0 million horses, and 1.6 million full-time jobs.
