The career that I am going to pursue is Mechanical Engineering. The reason why I chose this is because ever since i was little i was always interested in building little cars. I begged by parents to buy me Legos so i could create what ever came to my head. Even there are many types of engineering i want to be the engineer that designs cars.
History of Mechanical Engineering
The history of mechanical engineering is very broad and dates back to ancient times. In ancient Greece, the works of Archimedes which he had designed ships and invented the Archimedes screw which is still used today ("Wikipedia"). The reason that mechanical engineering dates back so long is that people have a natural tendency to make things better then what it is now to make work more efficient and easier. In the process of making things easier some people come along and make a huge invention that influences others to invent and expand. It is known that the greatest nations throughout history in the world have made the best engineers and inventors.
To have engineering and inventing grow in a nation there is one key component. A nation's agriculture has to prosper in order for the growth of better technology, for example the Aztecs in Mexico were technological superior to any other nation in the ancient Americas for the soul purpose that they can focus better on technology instead of hunger. Now in today's world we really don't need our agriculture to prosper in order for our technology to get better because it is funded by the government.
Mechanical engineering also is required by war. War is the fuel that drives nations to defend themselves and in order to do this you need engineers to make better weapons and transportation. As with most other techn...

Mechanical engineers must be licensed of they are to do anything that affects peoples’ lives, property, or the environment. A bachelor’s degree is minimal for most companies. A master’s degree assures a better starting salary and opportunities for advancement. High school credits should have good grades in: math, physics, chemistry, biology, drafting, computer and mechanical courses. To become a mechanical engineer you should start at a high school level when you notice curiosity of how, any why things work.
Mechanical engineering and designing is in everything we use, in our jobs and everyday items used in our homes. We often don't think of the work that goes into the designing of large and small tools but we do know how much easier it makes our
To begin with, it should be known that the chosen material of a certain era can be a turning point, such as the stone age, bronze age, the iron age as well as the steel age etc. Initially, the material science is derived from the ceramics manufacturing as well as its putative derivative metallurgy hence material science can be seen as one of the oldest types of engineering and applied science in the world. It is based on metallurgy that the modern material science is formed, and metallurgy is further evolved from mining, ceramics and the adoption ...

Military engineering can be traced back to its origins in the defensive frameworks in the fort hills constructed in Europe during the late Iron Age. One of the earliest feats of Military Engineering was the Great Wall of China, which was built in the 3rd century B.C. to protect the Chinese against the barbarians to the north.
Engineering is the most effective tool that we have to build and do great things. We have stepped on the moon. We have created weapons that are capably of terrifying destruction. Engineers can turn what we think impossible into reality.
According to dictionary.com,” Mechanical Engineering is the branch of engineering dealing with the design, construction, and use of machines.” Their job is to take an idea and actually make it happen. Doing this takes a lot of knowledge and skills. They first start off with an idea that they have. Then they try to make a small module of it. They do this so they know what the product will work without spending a lot of money on it. They have to find the right materials to do this. The materials have to be able to withstand a lot of things nature has to throw at it. Like rain, dust, lightening, and many more things. After they have to make sure the produce is safe. When all of this is done they build the real thing.
We have reached a point in time where the antediluvian ways have either been completely forgotten or are simply ignored for loss of necessity. This fast progressing world owes everything to the researchers and innovators responsible for the ever changing paradigm of technology. My capability as an engineer, however, to be truly able to understand how the various design aspects behind each innovation, helping me ponder over the numerous ways in which it can be implemented for technological betterment is what makes me stand apart. Right from my childhood, I have been fascinated by bicycles, motorcycles, cars, mechanical structures and basically anything that had virile relations; this was mainly because of the automobiles and other vehicles in movies that always used to drum in a sense of amazement that used to reverberate in my memories long after. It was only a matter of time before I came to realize the sheer brilliance behind every design, the immense perfection engineers strive to achieve and the amount of hard work and dedication required to impeccable levels in the whole process. I wanted to be a part of it and it was then that I decided what was worth doing with my life. I chose Mechanical Engineering as my major in my Undergraduate study and frankly, the field never ceases to amaze me.
plays a greater role in engineering than does mechanics, and it is the oldest of
When designing products, they may start to just sketch out the idea and then after a couple of sketches, he or she will start to use a Computer-Aided drafting program. After a product has been built, they will preform a quality assurance check on the product. Bureau of Labor Statistics (2015) says, “Employment of mechanical engineers is projected to grow 5 percent from 2014 to 2024, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Mechanical engineers can work in many industries and on many types of projects”. As technology advances so will the number of engineering jobs in the workplace. If you have a mechanical engineering degree you are able to work in many environments from the rail industry to the aerospace
My biggest reason for being a mechanical engineer is not because of the pay or the benefits, but because it is what I want to do. I feel like I can be happy going to work everyday as a mechanical engineer. I have always wanted to wake up everyday and be a happy person. Mechanical engineering will provide me with a challenge and a spark of joy at the same time. Mechanical engineering is my dream career. One day I will accomplish my goals. Through hard work and dedication I will accomplish the goals I have set out to achieve in life.
Take a look at the world around you. Every piece of technology around you and your peers didn’t come from nowhere. In most scenarios, a problem arose and it had to be fixed somehow. Ancient man would’ve just tried trial and error, and at some point they’d have a solution. Sometimes just out of genius, an invention comes out. In most cases, however, a methodical approach is required. Engineers used what’s often called the Engineering Design Process to make products to solve problems. The Engineering Design Process isn’t much different than the Scientific Method. First the problem is defined, then the engineer researches, defines requirements, brainstorms, develops the prototype, tests, and communicates results. After conducting all these steps,
The first form of invented technology was the printing press, which was invented in Europe around the mid 1400’s. The printing press had a big impact on society because books were more available and more people learned to read. Around the 1700’s, the Industrial Revolution started rapid technological innovations in Great Britain, and spread to America in the mid 1800’s. There was an extensive use of water power, steam engines, coal as fuel, and growth of factories. Eventually in the 1900’s, Henry Ford invented the automobile factory and made it even easier for people to travel from place to place. In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, scientific discoveries set off a new trend. Scientists discovered the nature of electricity and electromagnetic waves which then led to the first series of technological advances. The telegraph and the telephone for example, allowed people to communicate almost instantly at a long distance for the first time ever (W...
Mechanical engineering is a type of engineering which applies principles of physics and material science for the purpose of analyzing, designing, manufacturing and maintaining of mechanical systems (Gorp, 2005). It is involved with the production and usage of mechanical power in the operation of various machines and tools. Mechanical engineering is considered to be the most diverse engineering and has its breadth derived from the need to design tools and manufacture products which range from small individual parts to large systems. Mechanical engineering, as thought of by scholars, is related to Aerospace engineering, Manufacturing and Mechanical engineering (Van et al, 2011).
Mechanical engineering technicians work under the direction of mechanical engineers to design, build, maintain, and modify many kinds of machines, mechanical devices, and tools. They work in a wide range of industries and a variety of specific jobs within every industry. Mechanical engineering technicians review mechanical drawings and project instructions, analyze design plans to determine costs and practical value, sketch rough layouts of proposed machines or parts, assemble new or modified devices or components, test completed assemblies or components, analyze test results, and write reports. There are approximately 48,000 mechanical engineering technicians employed in the United States.
