A Life Changing Event

“A Life Changing Event” There are many events that stand out in my life that were significant and helped me grow stronger. One of these events stands out in particular to me and had the greatest impact in my life. When I attended high school my focus was never on the academics but only on sports and having fun with my friends. I never payed attention for more than five seconds and failed to complete any type of work given to me. My lack of care for high school affected me on going to a four year college, playing a sport in college, and taking remedial classes. First off when one’s grades are poor it is extremely hard to get into a four year college. I would sit in all of my forty-five minute classes doodling, telling jokes, and just trying to distract everyone else from getting their education. I found every way of getting in trouble and in essence my grades reflected it. Most four year colleges you must have at least a 3.0 G.P.A. In my case my G.P.A was so low that the options were not even there at all. I was community college bound but I didn’t want to admit it so I continued to do what I was doing, failing. Also mostly all four year colleges you need to take the SAT’s and receive the grade they require. I signed up for the SAT’s and paid for them but failed to show up because I decided going to the beach with my friends was much more important to me. Four year colleges also want to see that you were involved in extra-circular activities and clubs. I had no problem playing sports but when it came to any type of club I wanted to no parts of it whatsoever. Colleges also have the access to look at your discipline record and any trouble you may have gotten into, needless to say my discipline record took up a few filing cabin... ... middle of paper ... ...d get serious. I am now completing all these classes and more so that I can transfer out of BCC as soon as possible to go to a four year college. The whole high school experience for me was one of the best times of my life but didn’t turn out how I’d hoped it would. I had fun whenever possible and to me that is always, thats just the way I am. I like to live my life in the moment and get the most fun out of everything I do. I guess one could say I slightly changed that mentality, now I pay attention a lot more and strive to do better in academics. If I had the choice to go back and change things in high school I honestly wouldn’t. There are many memories, being good or bad, that will last a lifetime. Now that I am taking credit classes I pay attention, take notes, and do well on tests. I think I will end up doing very well and reaching my goal of getting out of BCC.
