Certified Public Accountant Growing up is scary. Especially when the future is unpredictable, finding the right job can reduce this. It is tough as a kid to think about how to spend the time in the future and what to be doing as a career. There are a lot of decisions to be made. For example, in order to pick the accurate college it is worthy to know what interests me as an individual. There are questions that can be answered that will be able to suggest a better idea of what jobs apply. Well, in the future I would like to have a career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). The Revenue Act of 1924, which President Calvin Coolidge signed into law to give CPAs the recognition by the federal government to be a professional class. The AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accounting) has been given four different names throughout history. It began as the AAPA (American Association of Public Accountants) in 1887. In 1916, the AAPA was succeeded by the Institute of Public Accountants, which changed its name to the AIA (American Institute of Accountants) a year later. That name was taken in 1936 when the AIA merged with the American Society of Certified Public Accountants. The AIA renamed itself the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in 1957. In 1896, New York Gov. Levi P. Morton signed the first CPA bill into law. Twenty-two members were part of the AICPA when it was formed in 1887. The 16th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, ratified in 1913, permitted a federal income tax (Tysiac). In order to do any job there are some requirements and qualifications that you must meet. In the months preceding the start of my Federal Tax internship with KPMG, LLP this past summer, I had mixed expectations not only about the potentially difficult work I would be asked to complete, but also about how I would fit in at such a big and prestigious accounting firm with my limited experience and knowledge. In anticipation of my summer at KPMG, I would find myself searching the Internet for articles and forums with helpful advice for new coming “Big-Four” accounting interns and brushing up on some potentially helpful excel formulas. But, as my start date grew nearer, my nerves were progressively replaced with excitement and an eagerness to learn.

A master's degree in a specific field of accounting improves job prospects. To be a CPA they have to pass a national exam and complete 150 semester hours of college (“Accountants and Auditors”). To be a manager a person needs several years of experience. To be a partner a person needs experience as a manager and establish a client base (“Accountant”). To be an accountant a person needs a bachelor's degree. Some get their master’s degree to be a manager and partner while others just want it for backup (Encyclopedia of Careers and Vocational Guidance 1). If a person were to get a master’s degree it need to be in accounting or in business administration (“Accountant”). The main education is to attend a four-year college or university and a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field (“Accountants and Auditors”). Accountants prepare financial statements to distribute to companies so that they can see the effectiveness of the business. The lease mistake an accountant makes can cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars, even millions. Anyone who wishes to become an accountant should definitely take the CPA exam, and become a certified accountant. It is a good feeling to know that you can carry out that goal of being a certified and licensed accountant.
I am applying for admission to the Ph.D. program in accounting because I want a career in the research and teaching of accounting. I have wanted to pursue a PhD in accounting since I was a college sophomore about 25 years ago. A PhD in accounting would provide me with opportunity to fulfill my life-long dream of involving in teaching and play a positive role in the lives of my students the same way my teachers have played in mine. You had better know what you want to do when you get older and you better like it because that is what you will be doing for the rest of your life. However, most of the jobs today needs at least 2-4 years of schooling. I want to be a lawyer. A lawyer will almost always get paid a lot to represent someone or some business. All a lawyer has to do is argue for their client and make them sound good and help them out in legal cases. Also, the lawyer gets to tell their client how much they want to be paid. I think that a lawyering job would be good for me because I love to argue, persuade people, and help people. There are few careers that the general public has the most misconceptions about and lawyers are one of the most common.
