Pop Culture
A variety of different genres make up what we read, listen to and watch in society. Each theme tells a different aspect of how a book is being told. These personal thought come through an individual’s style of how they write. Their writings reflect off of what the theme is based on. Themes are categorized by different subjects in the world. Each theme tends to reflect off their society and how history was made. Pop culture is a big theme that many people read about. This is a culture that describes the taste and lifestyle of the majority of people around the world. Pop culture changes as generations are being made. Some examples include TV actors that are all grown up or different type of music that we listen to. Stories in the pop culture have impacted our society. The readings from pop culture often try to persuade the readers to see what opinions they have to come up with. One story that is a good example is from Christine Seifert called “Bite Me! (Or Don’t): Twilight as Abstinence Porn.” This situation was dealing with couples being romantic to one another without having sex. According Seifert, she sets up a good point when she brought up Stephanie Meyers and her Twilight series. She talks about how Bella and Edward were in a deep relationship, but as the series goes there was no sex involved. In addition, once they actually do have sex many of the readers were disappointed that Meyer added the sexual part of the relationship in the series. Most of her fans were thinking that she was doing a good job at maintaining the sexual aspects of a relationship. In my perspective, I think that it was a gr...

... right. The midst of people would think one thing when the whole situation says another thing. The media should receive credit for wrong information. That is telling the people that everything that the media is says is never truthful. The clothes that we wear and shows that we watch reflect off what helps tell who we truly are. The media has a good taste of giving us observations of the latest trends at the time. We are able to embrace certain type taste in music and TV shows because of our o pop culture. Perhaps the easiest thing to do right now is to watch pop culture progress into better things and see how it can be changed as time passes by. Everything that we sense around the whole tells us how we live. Without pop culture, people would not know to look forward to in the future. It wouldn’t be a good idea to categorize pop culture as a reputation to people.
Not only are the media at fault for influencing children of today, the parents are also at fault for their encouragement of the media market. The market has a strong hold on children and is continually influencing them through many aspects of their lives. Parents need to encourage their children to not conform to whatever the media says. Kids do not need the newest items or hippest clothing in order to be successful. Parents need to slow down on spoiling their children and have them focus less on material things. Overall, we need to crack down on the gripping media market and encourage the children of today to be true to themselves and not rely so much on the media driven society.
Though obviously people are aware of what they are listening to or watching, thoughts and assumptions can drift into their minds without even realizing it. These thoughts that drift in are extremely influential. The massive impact it can have on America's perceptions leads to generalizations, assumptions, and stigmas. Media influence is not always negative, however. In most cases, it has beneficial and positive aspects.
I tend to see things differently than anyone else. I do not think entertainment media does shape American culture and values; I think American culture and values shape entertainment media. The events we live through on a daily basis; war, poverty, homelessness, crime, sacrifice, random acts of kindness, these are the things that shape the American culture. Our values begin at home, things our parents, churches, and society instill in us. As we go out on our own, sometimes those values can change because we learn that life is not black and white, it also comes in many shades of

Popular Culture has changed drastically over the decades with the biggest question being whether or not popular culture is a positive or negative expression of our ideas and reflections. American Pop Culture has an extremely important role that influences the United States and around the world. There are countless topics that make up pop culture and it is nearly impossible to name all of them. Three of the cultures that I believe has changed the most and seems to cause the most controversy are television, music and religion.
1) I agree that pop culture is always changing and that the young generation are the ones who are mainly in control of it. The reason I believe this is because there are new videos and memes that become popular that younger people are always coming up with. Something that I had a question about was the concept that pop culture was a part of capitalism because that didn’t make much sense to me seeing as though pop culture is just what’s popular at the time and not controlled by higher status people.
American popular culture is quite serious because we find the “voices” that write, play, film, photograph, dance and explain our American history. George Lipitz notes that historians can learn a lot about the process of identity and memory in the past and present by deciphering the messages contained in popular culture forms such as films, television and music. As stated by George Lipsitz, people can either work for the economy and state, and against the population who take in the messages or they can work in a positive way as memories of the past and hopes for the future.
Mass media controls the public like puppets. It affects everything a person does with their lives. Just like in Fahrenheit 451 we live in a society of fantasizers. We believe what the media tells us and to not question it but just go along with it. Media is everywhere whether we are aware of it or not.
When it comes to teaching, there are many ways one could go about educating their students. The most valuable lesson in teaching is that the information is coming off as beneficial, meaning it is effective to the student. Students are participants, therefore they play a huge role in the learning process, so in order to get them to learn one must comprehend their viewpoints and involve them in the process. A big topic teacher’s use today is pop culture. The general definition of pop culture would be anything from activities to perspectives that are prevalent to a general population. Technology, television and movies, and athletic fashion trends are three topics of pop culture that this article, Strategies For Using Pop Culture in Sport Psychology and Coaching Education discusses. Through the use of topics that are popular and modern, students will relate to the concept more and really engage in what is being taught.
Popular culture is often dismissed as frivolous, unimportant or simply mindless entertainment, both by media critics and by academics. However, it is important to examine and think critically about popular culture and what it can tell us about the society that we live in. In the specific case of the relationship between gender and popular culture, popular culture is informed by the way gender is structured and the structure of gender is, in part, reinforced by popular culture.

A notable example of this is the sixteenth century author, William Shakespeare, since his works were considered pop culture, entertainment that could be enjoyed by everyone, but now they are considered literary classics. While pop culture encompasses most aspects of our lives, its influence is most obvious through each generation's reaction to media, how our friendships are changing, and how education is evolving. Nevertheless, it binds people together and dictates what is socially acceptable, while reflecting what we believe and love. It allows individuals to change prevailing norms of behavior from the inside out.
