“’I think I might like that.’ –Mrs. Alfred Kinsey, upon being asked if she would like to have sex with her husband’s graduate student in the film Kinsey” (P. 152). This illustrates just one aspect of female sexual desire, sex with a younger man. This book explores the concepts of sexual desire for both males and females and answers the question of why we desire what we desire. Since most people are often worried about what society would think about their specific sexual desires, and therefore lie about what they truly desire, Ogas and Gaddam came up with a rather intelligent solution to this problem: The internet. The internet provides anonymity, so people don’t have to worry about what society will think. Using the internet as their database for approximately a year, they we able to compile a wide range of data concerning male and female desire. From this data, they discuss the differences in the male and female sexual psychologies, their variations in desire, and why we desire what we desire. It is also worth noting that they do so in a humorous way that is interesting and easy to understand. They explain the different kinds of kinky, and non-kinky, behavior that the two sexes are interested in, and they provide information and insight for the reasons behind this. Not only do they tell us what males and females desire, but they give explanations as to why we desire what we do. Using evolutionary psychology, neuroscience, and the internet, Ogas and Gaddam provide us with a better understanding of human sexual desire.

...even twenty, this research method was inaccessible to us. The society in which we live in now is also different from the society in which we lived in twenty/thirty years ago. This subject has always been a bit offensive, though perhaps less now than twenty/thirty years ago, for the simple reason that it involves sex and sexual desires. The fact that this research was conducted and published shows us just how much our culture is growing and becoming more accommodating. I would definitely recommend it to other students and future students, and I have already recommended it to everyone I know. This book gets five stars.

The scientific study of human sexual behavior conducted by Alfred Kinsey led to a sexual revolution. Globally, people were able to open up about the topic and use it as a source of information. “Kinsey” allowed the audience to obtain a better grasp about conducting scientific study and his personal life. Even though his research methods have been called upon question and controversy, he changed people’s lives.
In the article “An Anthropological Look at Human Sexuality” the authors, Patrick Gray and Linda Wolfe speak about how societies look at human sexuality. The core concept of anthology is the idea of culture, the systems of attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors people acquire as a member of society. The authors give an in depth analysis on how human sexuality is looked at in all different situations.
Masters and Johnson were a pioneering team in the field of human sexuality, both in the domains of research and therapy. William Howell Masters, a gynecologist, was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1915. Virginia Eshelman Johnson, a psychologist, was born in Springfield, Montana in 1925. To fully appreciate their contribution, it is necessary to see their work in historic context. In 1948, Alfred C. Kinsey and his co-workers, responding to a request by female students at Indiana University for more information on human sexual behavior, published the book Sexual Behavior in the Human Male. They followed this five years later with Sexual Behavior in the Human Female. These books began a revolution in social awareness of and public attention given to human sexuality. At the time, public morality severely restricted open discussion of sexuality as a human characteristic, and specific sexual practices, especially sexual behaviors that did not lead to procreation. Kinsey's books, which among other things reported findings on the frequency of various sexual practices including homosexuality, caused a furor. Some people felt that the study of sexual behavior would undermine the family structure and damage American society. It was in this climate - one of incipient efforts to break through the denial of human sexuality and considerable resistance to these efforts - that Masters and Johnson began their work. Their primary contribution has been to help define sexuality as a healthy human trait and the experience of great pleasure and deep intimacy during sex as socially acceptable goals. As a physician interested in the nature of sexuality and the sexual experience, William Masters wanted to conduct research that would lead to an objective understanding of these topics. In 1957, he hired Virgina Johnson as a research assistant to begin this research issue. Together they developed polygraph-like instruments that were designed to measure human sexual response. Using these tools, Masters and Johnson initiated a project that ultimately included direct laboratory observation and measurement of 700 men and women while they were having intercourse or masturbating. Based on the data collected in this study, they co-authored the book Human Sexual Response in 1966. In this book, they identify and describe four phases in the human sexual response cycle : excitement, plateau, orgasm, and resolution. By this point in time, the generally repressive attitude toward sexuality was beginning to lift and the book found a ready audience.
The initial study, implemented in 2005, surveyed thirty people, who proclaimed they have “great sex”; the initial finding of these thirty people found six different components of optimal sexuality. With their follow up study,
“The Guide to Getting it On!” is unlike any book on human sexuality that I have ever read. Not to say that I read a lot of human sexuality books, but the ones I have looked over (including the text for this class) are often bland and stagnant. “The Guide to Getting it On!” has an approach to human sexuality that is fun, witty, and extremely sensitive all in one. This 370 page book contains subjects on sex that are designed to make the reader think outside of the box (no pun intended) about their own sexuality and the sexuality of others. It is a playful look into the modern relationships of today, and an aid to couples wanting to spice up their love life. Topics discussed in this manual vary from getting naked and intercourse to sex toys and being gay in the 90’s. Practically any topic you can think of about human sexuality is covered in this book and makes for a heavy read. This book also has a section that reviews additional resources for the reader to investigate further. In the back of this book is a glossary of sex, slang and cultural-related words and their definitions.
The first topic that was approached in this essay was sexual desire among men, women, gays, and lesbians. The research concluded that men have more sexual desire than women. Men not only have more sexual desire, but they also have more interest in sex, sex fantasies, and spend more money on sexual products like porn and prostitutes. Another subject that was brought up was that in heterosexual relationships the man in the relationship wants to have more sex, but ultimately has to compromise with their female partner. Lesbian relationships has reported that they have sex less often then in gay or heterosexual relationship, which makes sense since women tend to have a lower sex drive.
Concerning issues learned in class, the film corners in on three particular topics that accurately convey the textual evidence we were presented with. The first is dealing with gender differences and sexual motivation, the different reasons men and women have sex. Communication and sex is also portrayed, who does one talk to about sex. And finally, the film hints at an open double standard declaring it does still exist.
The purpose of this short interview is to ask an elder person, at least the age of 40 years old, about their view of sex during their time and their perspective of how the society has changed. This experiment will illustrate societal and sociological changes that have occurred. For this project, I interviewed Mrs. Ebony Jackson, a 41 years old Africa-American women. Mrs. Jackson was born in 1975 and grew up in Los Angeles, California. Her family that she grew up in consist of her two sisters, mother, grandmother, and grandfather. I asked Mrs. Jackson if her family ever talk to her about sex or sexuality and the respond I got was a 'no. No matter what the age, every person, man or woman, wants to feel desirable. Too often it is that very desire that leads one to suffer a grievous error in judgment. However, while both man and woman can lay claim to this error, it has and will continue to be viewed differently, by society at large, in the harsh light of gender. A man, then and now, is allowed to "sow his wild oats" and society him for doing so. Unfortunately, let a woman do the same and she is labeled as promiscuous, among other not so flattering terms. Marvell and Donne, respectively, have captured the very essence of a struggle older than time itself, female versus male, and sexuality versus virtue. So, as one can see, obsession with sexuality, is not a generational matter; in fact sexuality exists independently of both time and place.
Throughout the world, people sexual experiences differ. They are aroused and get off on different things. This article contains is one of the many ways people find not only a sexual outlet, but also find way to escape from reality. The article focuses on a research study, focusing on the people who make relationships through a virtual online world called Second life. Second life has a bunch of different features that allow people of simulate different actions. These actions range from giving aa piggyback ride to sexual actions. This is a gateway from some people to be sexually active without skin on skin action. Second life allows people to be whoever they want to be. People can make a profile and character that matches the description they want. They can express themselves through second life. This also leads to the ideas of ciscarnate and transcarnate.

This book is one that will allow the reader to view many aspects of sexuality from a social standpoint, and apply it to certain social attitudes in our society today, these attitudes can range from the acceptance of lesbian and gays, and the common sight of sex before marriage and women equality. The new era of sexuality has taken a definite "transformation" as Giddens puts it, and as a society we are living in the world of change in which we must adapt, by accepting our society as a changing society, and not be naive and think all the rules of sexuality from our parents time our still in existence now.
The American Psychiatric Association does not define atypical sexual interests as a disorder unless it causes personal distress, causes another person psychological or physical injury, or involves a person unwilling or unable to give legal consent. These distinctions were made to show that individuals who engage in atypical sexual behavior must not be inappropriately labeled as having a mental disorder. When we think of sexual orientation, we usually think of the continuum of gay, straight, and bisexual, but sexual orientation is a deep-seated attraction toward a certain kind of person. Erotic desire includes attention, attraction, fantasy, thoughts, urges, genital arousal, and behavior. It is further complicated by variations of dominance or submission, sadism and masochism, fetishes, and consent or no consent. These interests may be single or multiple, exclusive or nonexclusive, idiosyncratic or opportunistic, stable or fluid. Possible legal consequences, lack of opportunity, and unwillingness or inability to act all work to constrain our behavior. The sooner we learn this concerning human sexual behavior, the sooner we shall reach a sound understanding of the realities of sex. The reasons for our sexual choices are analyzed obsessively, imposing an undue emphasis on categorization rather than accepting the great diversity of same-sex attractions. But the act of categorizing all of these atypical sexual attractions does not mean that acting on them is either legal or morally acceptable nor unacceptable. Explanations for all of the elements of our sexual attractions are complex and probably unknowable. The question fundamental to the philosophy of sex is the question probing into the nature of sexual activity. What is sex? Many have postulated on the subject, but have only further clouded the waters surrounding the subject. There are a multitude of philosophical answers addressing the question of sex ranging from the natural to the phenomenological to everywhere in between. It is essential to the discussion that a proper definition of sex be established before addressing any other issues. I plan to establish a proper definition of sex with an account of sexual perversion and then continue on discussing the nature of cybersex, infidelity, and love.
Urvashi Butalia in her book, The Other Side of Silence, attempts to analyze the partition in Indian society, through an oral history of Indian experiences. The collection of traumatic events from those people who lived through the partition gives insight on how history has enveloped these silences decades later. Furthermore, the movie 1947 Earth reveals the bitterness of partition and its effect of violence on certain characters. The most intriguing character which elucidates the silence of the partition is the child, Lenny. Lenny in particular the narrator of the story, serves as a medium to the intangibility created by the partition. The intangibility being love and violence, how can people who grew up together to love each other hate one another amidst religion? This question is best depicted through the innocence of a child, Lenny. Through her interactions with her friends, the doll, and the Lahore Park, we see silence elucidated as comfort of not knowing, or the pain from the separation of comfort and silence from an unspoken truth.
