The Problems With Low Carbohydrate and Low Fat Diets
The low carbohydrate diets and the low fat diets both claim to be successful methods of losing weight and staying healthy. Both diet plans also attempt to carry out their goals by restricting what dieters can and cannot eat in relation to what is recommended by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Through altering what nutritionists suggest for a healthy regime, low carbohydrate and low fat meal plans potentially put dieters at a higher risk for developing health problems and diseases. Also, diet plans do not necessarily accomplish their goals when maintained over a long period of time.
Diets set regulations on what should or shouldn’t be part of a daily nutritional intake. The USDA recommends between 2-5 servings, measured at about one cup per serving, each day from the dairy, protein, fruit, and vegetable food groups, with an additional 6-11 servings of carbohydrates. Low carbohydrate meal plans and low fat meal plans direct dieters to follow nutritional schedules that contrast with the USDA recommended diet plan. Low carbohydrate diets, such as the Atkins diet, significantly lower the daily carbohydrate intake while increasing the amounts of servings from the meat, dairy, and other groups. On the other hand, low fat diets such as the Weight Watchers diet instruct that dieters should consume more servings of carbohydrates and less of fatty foods and foods with animal fats, which include foods from the meat group, dairy products, and others.
Both diets largely differ from each other as well as from the USDA recommended meal plan. Carbohydrates, which are chemical compounds such as sugars, starches, and celluloses, are converted by the body into energ...

In previous years to lose weight a person was told to eat “healthier”, lower caloric intake, and exercise more. Many of these advocates promoted the food pyramid. The food pyramid, completed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, recommends 6-11 servings from the “bread, cereal, rice, and pasta” group, 3-5 servings from the “vegetable” group, 2-4 servings from the “fruit” group, 2-3 servings from both the “milk, yogurt, and cheese” group and the “meat, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts group,” and “fats, oils, and sugars” are to be consumed “sparingly.” Serving sizes can be found on the label of most food products under the Nutrition Facts.
He was born in Stagira, and both of his parents died when he was a boy. His legal guardian named Proxenus raised him (World Book 663). At the age of 18 years of age, Aristotle entered Plato’s school in Athens called the Academy. When Plato died in 347 BC, Aristotle left the Academy to live with some of Plato’s disciples who were living with Hermeias.

Compare and Contrast Low Carbohydrate Diets and Low Fat Diets The two most popular methods to lose weight are the low carbohydrate diets and the low fat diets. Both are in complete contrast when it comes to each diet’s food choices, the low carbohydrate diet which completely breaks the food pyramid limits a person to eating foods that are high in carbohydrates, such as bread, pasta and rice, while on the other hand, the low fat diet which follow the food pyramid limits a person to eat foods that are high in fat like meat, milk, and bean groups. Although each diet may sound very different from one another, they also share similarities. Both the low carbohydrate diet and the low fat diet claim that each is a good tool for weight loss.
Most readers are aware of the many famous deaths or acts of death within the Shakespearean plays. And when the main characters die in Shakespeare’s plays, indeed, the readers would categorize the play as a tragedy. The problem with any tragedy definition is that most tragic plays do not define the tragedy conditions explained or outlined by Aristotle. According to Telford (1961), a tragedy is a literary work that describes the downfall of an honorable, main character who is involved on historically or socially significant events. The main character, or tragic hero, has a tragic fault, the quality that leads to his or her own destruction. In reading Aristotle’s point of view, a tragedy play is when the main character(s) are under enormous pressure and are incapable to see the dignities in human life, which Aristotle’s ideas of tragedy is based on Oedipus the King. Shakespeare had a different view of tragedy. In fact, Shakespeare believed tragedy is when the hero is simply and solely destroyed. Golden (1984) argued the structure of Shakespearean tragedy would be that individual characters revolved around some pain and misery.
Post modernism is a very difficult concept to define. A French philosopher once defined post modernism as an "incredulity toward all meta narratives," which basically means a skeptical attitude toward all claims of absolute truth. Post modern writers use elements and techniques that provoke the reader to question their reading experience and scrutinize their own personal understanding of life and the values of their society. There are excellent examples of post modern writers using elements of post modern writing, such as irony, magic realism and fragmentation in the short stories read in Ms. Reynolds's English 4U class. The use of post modern elements in these short stories forces the reader to further their reading experience by going more in depth into the writing and figuring out how the story is significant to them and their view on the world.
Aristotle's talents were great. Beyond his skills of observation, he also had deep insight, and was able to spot patterns and draw conclusions. Aristotle drove himself with a desire for knowledge. He went for what philosophers and scientists are still seeking today, and his success was remarkable. More than any other single figure in Western history, Aristotle was the example of knowledge and learning. His works continue to inspire, and encourage others today.
The Taliban was a militant Islamic movement, which emerged from their base in Kandahar because of the chaos of the fighting between rival mujahideens, or guerillas, after the Soviets withdrew in 1989(“Taliban facts,” 2008). Mullah Omar was one of the Taliban’s founding leaders and he started the territorial conquest of Afghanistan in 1994 by taking over Kandahar(“Taliban”). By 1996, the Taliban had control of 90% of Afghanistan, just two years into their conquest, by capturing Kabul, which is the capital of Afghanistan (“Taliban facts,” 2008). They then introduced a revolutionary form of Muslim culture, however this came at a cost to human rights (“Taliban facts,” 2008). Men were forced to keep their beards at a specific
What is tragedy? Aristotle defines tragedy: "A tragedy must not be the spectacles of a perfect good man brought to adversity. For this merely stock us" (1). Not in every play where a hero dies is considered a tragedy. Also, "Nor, of course, must it be that of a bad man passing from adversity to prosperity: for that is not tragedy at all, but the perversion of tragedy, and revolts moral sense". Further "Nor, again, should it exhibit the downfall of an utter villain pity is aroused by undeserved misfortunes, terror by misfortunes befalling a man like ourselves". "There remains, then, as the only proper subject for tragedy, the spectacle of a man not absolutely or eminently good or wise, who is brought to disaster not by sheer depravity but by some error or frailty". "Lastly, this man must be highly renowned and prosperous-and Oedipus, a Thyestes, or some other illustrious person" (Quiller-Couch 1). "A tragedy, he tells us, is a play in which the chief characters experience a change from good fortune to bad, and in a comedy, alternately, the change is from bad to good" (Fallon, Themes 210). The tragedy in Macbeth is between friends, but the tragedy in Hamlet occurs within the family.
The poor food choices that men and women make is the cause of many illnesses, disease and chronic health conditions. Men and women generally have different thoughts and choices on the topic of healthy food. People’s bad health may be genetically occurred or their exposure to their past nutritional education was not helpful, but their bad health is primarily based upon the poor choices that the individuals choose in daily life.
While Aristotle has been known throughout history for his accomplishments in mathematics, physics, and even arts, he also had some very complex and advanced teachings on what we would today call psychology. Many of his teachings on ethics and politics would fall under the study of psychology as well.

Aristotle was born in 384 B.C.E and lived until 322 B.C.E. His father was a court physician for the Macedonian Court, which greatly influenced his life. His father passed when he was still a boy and he was sent to study under Plato at the Academy at the ripe age
Many scientists and experts in their fields are debating over whether a low-carbohydrate diet is suitable to be used than a high – carbohydrate diet. Carbohydrates are not a popular food type in the diet because grains which are carbohydrates contain gluten and gluten is known to be inflammatory and affects the body’s blood sugar levels. This results in weight gain and the struggle to maintain weight. Grains also contain an acid called phytic acid meaning that the body can not absorb much of calcium, iron and magnesium. The lack of iron, calcium and magnesium means that you are at a high risk of bone related diseases such as
