The founder of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was once quoted saying “No child should die in the dawn of life” and it has been the mission of St. Jude to make their founder’s dream a reality through a series of charitable donations, advertisements, celebrity endorsements, and campaigns. Named after the Patron Saint of hope and lost causes, St. Jude Children’s Hospital was founded in 1960, in Memphis Tennessee and is now named St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Blackwell). After speaking with Cardinal Samuel Stritch, Danny Thomas, a famous entertainer, planned to build a hospital where children from all over could receive health care at no cost to their families. Launched in 1987 the New York Children’s Health Project or NYCHP was a vision project that Dr. Irwin Redlener brought to life and wanted it to cater to those children who were needy of healthcare services. While the Doctor was working in pediatrics in Denver Children’s Hospital, he there decided to take some initiative when he came to learn about VISTA or Volunteers in Services to America. From that point, Dr. Redlener began devoting his services to different locations. He then started his initiative of CHF (Children’s Health Fund) which focused on pediatric care for Children’s Health.

In today’s society heath care will forever and always be a necessity and priority. In the United States alone there are several healthcare facilities nationwide that exemplify exceptional healthcare providers. One facility that I ran across doing research is Johns Hopkins Hospital. It is one of the most prestigious and prominent hospitals in America. Johns Hopkins is ranked in the top 10 hospitals for over twenty years and doesn’t show any signs of plummeting lower.
