Romeo and Juliet, a play written by William Shakespeare, has a tragic ending for the two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. There are many characters you could blame for the death of the two main characters such as Mercutio, The Nurse, or the feuding families, but the ending of this story ultimately comes down to three important characters. In the tragic play, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet were not the only characters to blame for their own deaths. Friar Laurence and Tybalt were major reasons for the deaths of these two star-crossed lovers. The main character to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet is Romeo himself. Friar Laurence was the one that married Romeo and Juliet to try to solve the families’ feuding. However the marriage of these two characters did nothing but cause more problems in their lives. Being a man of God Friar Laurence should have given the two better advice on their marriage, but instead he was married them to try to solve the families feuding. Laurence should have thought about his decision to marry them more in depth, so he could prevent future problems. The Friar was also the person that came up with the “death” plan for Juliet, so she and Romeo could live happily ever after (4, 1, 92-113). This was another unwise action he did. He should have thought about all the problems that could have come about due to his plan. That’s one reason why is partially to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths. Friar Laurence also put too much trust in Friar John to send Romeo the letter about the “death”plan (5, 2, 5-12). Since the letters were so important, Friar Laurence should have personally delivered the letters so they got to Romeo, but instead he told Friar John to deliver them. Tybalt's anger and short temper caused him to act unjustly and make poor choices without thinking properly. Tybalt says “I will withdraw, but this intrusion shall now seeming sweet, convert to bitterest gall.”(1,5,90-91) This quote means that Romeo might have been having fun crashing their party, but Tybalt will get revenge on him in the future. Tybalt’s short temper causes him to make awful choices without thinking about the consequences.When Tybalt went to fight Romeo his short temper cause him to kill Mercutio instead. Tybalt should have know that killing Mercutio was going to lead to great danger and ultimately leading to his death(3, 1, 92). Romeo killed Tybalt in a fight that Tybalt started. Tybalt got Romeo banished, that caused Juliet to become sad and follow through with Friar’s plan. That is why Tybalt is partially to blame for Romeo and Juliet's Deaths. There were many characters that could take some blame for the death of the two star-crossed lovers, but the main characters to blame are Romeo, Friar Laurence, and Tybalt. These three characters played a vital role in the tragic ending of the play. Friar Laurence gave Juliet the potion, Romeo went to the ball uninvited, and Tybalt killed Mercutio.
