There have been tons of things that I have learned and been taught in my life, by a number of people such as family, teachers, or even friends on occasion. The things they taught me vary from math and other related subjects to just some truly simple yet meaningful life lessons. However, there is nothing quite as unique, quite as special as a person teaching themselves a life lesson. It really is an amazing accomplishment for a person to teach themselves something. It is not quite as simple as another person teaching them something because it is not just the transferring of information from one person to another. The person instead has to start from scratch and process the information they have in their mind in order to come up with a new thought …show more content…
I have taught myself several things in life, but one of them sticks out more than all the others, and that’s the lessons I have taught myself during my experiences with my first two jobs. These learning experiences I have had have helped me to mature and grow into an adult, and they have changed my life for the better. I have had two jobs in my short lifetime, one with a lawn care service and one with QuikTrip. These two jobs vary from each other greatly, and they are both pretty much on different ends of the spectrum. I have really liked the fact that these two jobs are so different from each other, and I think it has helped me to mature in a wide variety of different ways. Lawn care is a fully outside job, and the worker usually has to work really hard in the scorching sun and so they end up sweating a lot. I actually enjoyed it a lot because of the outside aspect …show more content…
It was my job for two summers, and was a great, exciting first job. One of the aspects that was very neat about it was the fact that I started it once school got out for the summer, and then once school started back up at the end of the summer I stopped working so I could put all my focus into school. I was primary weed eater for my first summer, simply because I was the newest guy on the job and also the youngest. I didn’t enjoy this near as much as I did mowing, but it taught me a lot about what hard work. We mowed a really big trailer park every other week, and I was in charge of weedeating the whole thing. I had to weedeat around all the pipes and poles sticking out of the ground, and although there was a bunch of those I didn’t really mind that part of the job much. However, the part of this that I absolutely hated was that I had to weedeat two or three decent size hills that were too steep to get a mower on. The worst part of this was that it was a job that couldn’t be done in the morning because the steep hills would be too slippery from the dew, so usually I would have to wait until the extreme heat of midday. This was one of the hardest things I had ever done before, and I truly hated it. However, because it was one of the hardest things I have ever done, it taught me what hard work really was. It taught me how to work hard, and showed me the rewards of my hard work through my paycheck
All of my jobs I have been working so far, they had been surrounded by restaurants. The very first job that I had is catering for weddings. You could call it waiter for weddings, but I think it was more than that. During my high school year, I was eager to have a job, because I was spending money on unnecessary things. I was a very lazy person and this job had completely changed me. The funny thing is it happened so fast, my first job lasts only a day.
Some say wisdom comes with old age, I guess I am wise beyond my years. You see even though I am only seventeen, I have been provided with numerous life experiences that have both challenged me mentally and molded me emotionally. In her book, You Learn by Living, Eleanor Roosevelt states that the best part of learning is “the capacity to learn from each thing you see, from each fact you acquire, from each experience you have, from each person you meet” (14). By saying this, Roosevelt is stating that we learn throughout everything we view and live through, not just what we read about in school. There have been a number of life lessons that have helped guide me, and they will continue to steer me throughout the rest of my life. They will grow
Since I was young until now, I have learned a lot of life’s lessons. And some I go by, and some I use once and then get rid of them. But there are ones that I keep for a short time, and keep for a long time, because you never know when they will come in handy.
all about working and learning, is it? My job was much more than just work, it was
I've learned a lot things in my breif time being alive, but only ne of those ideas really stands out to me. It is something that I try to live by and think of all the time. I've leaned that whatever you do, you need to have a passion for it. Without that passion you will never try hard enough.
My first job was at a grocery store I was excited of meeting new people, making friends, gaining experience, but most importantly was excited to earn my own money. My pay rate was nine ten and pay day was every Friday. The first day I worked was on a Sunday afternoon in which I worked a heavy eight hour shift from eight in the early morning to four in the calm afternoon. It was a very productive day I did many go-backs, the hourly

Another important skill that I have learned was knowing when I need help weather its from my parents or my school teachers. This life experience thought me that its okay to ask fro help sometimes because I am not perfect and sometimes in order for me to be successful both at school and home I may need some help every once in a while. My teachers and my family became an important resource for me because there were times when I couldn’t finish something from school or I wasn’t able to help my mother with a house chore. For example if I had to much homework one evening I spoke to my mother and explained that I have to much homework and I wouldn’t be able to help her as much and she understood or vice
My first job is babysitting. I started to babysit my siblings when I was 14 years old. My parents knew I was responsible to babysit so before I turn 15 years old, I can babysit other kids. At 15 started to babysit my neighbors and kid that lived close to me. At 16 my parents made me a Facebook page for my babysitting job. My responsible are taking care of kids, helping them with their homework, only let them watch TV for 1:30, let them play outside, and make food for them if they were hungry. The best part of babysitting is that all kids are different when you first meet them. I had one kid I was babysitting and he never liked me and every time he sees me he told me he didn’t. The last day of me babysitting him was one of the saddest days of my life.
The worst experience I have had was working at Perkins. I began at Perkins as a hostess. They later trained me to be a server. Being a server was great at first, I was getting paid a lot more than I was as a hostess. Being behind the scenes on the server line was an adjustment but I would get put into situations by management that required me to have to work as a hostess again. This was a bit frustrating at times because I thought becoming
I never really thought about where my life was going. I always believed life took me where I wanted to go, I never thought that I was the one who took myself were I wanted to go. Once I entered high school I changed the way I thought. This is why I chose to go to college. I believe that college will give me the keys to unlock the doors of life. This way I can choose for myself where I go instead of someone choosing for me.
There are numerous lessons that I have learned from life, they were lessons that I learned from good and bad experiences in life. Different experiences from school and out of school that has made me the way I am today. There is a long list of experiences that in reality did not teach me much.
During my time as a student I have been able to develop the way I learn and interact with others to a degree that has also helped me to mature into a better person. I have come to believe that this maturity will help me to develop into a better thinker as well, one that has the patience to listen and take consideration of what others have to say. I consider the act of learning a two way avenue that has to be taken seriously. It is one that involves the teacher, and the protégé. It has been, and will continue to be, my absolute goal as a student to become a diligent protégé and acquire all of learning my teachers have set in front of me. The way each of them have helped me to think about how my actions, and the way I choose to study my lessons and develop as a student, has made a tremendous impact on my life. This impact is one that I will carry into the future as I myself advance in my professional studies.
Also through out my high school career I took a job over the summer at a local summer camp. In the 3 years that I worked there I spent 2 of them working one-on-one with special needs children. I had so much fun those summers. I learned so much about how to work with different children. Those two summers I felt so rewarded while working with the children. I would be so happy when they accomplished something new or if they tried something new. I loved to see them succeed. After that summer I learned that if I do not end up having my own classroom I would really like to peruse a career working with special needs children. Even though it can be hard sometimes I think that the rewards over weigh the struggle by far.
