In our chosen country , Puerto Rico, the food is slightly different compared to the United States’ food. However, there are a few similarities. A Puerto Rican’s breakfast , much like an American’s breakfast is for the most part fairly light. People from both countries eat things like egg omelets with vegetables, and fruit salads. While comparing the two countries , we noticed that Puerto Rico eats and uses a lot of what we call bananas, but they call Plantains. Even though we do share a few of the same fruits, Puerto Rico has a lot of fruits that we don’t. Chironja, star apples, and star fruits are just a few examples. Soon after the Massachusetts Bay Colony was founded in 1629 (Mailer Handout 2 (1)). These two colonies, although close in the time they were founded, have many differences in aspects of their lives and the way they were settled. Although Puerto Rico is a beautiful place it is a highly expensive place to live. The cost of living in Puerto Rico has increased a great amount over the past decade. San Juan's, in particular, is higher than Atlanta, Dallas, and Seattle but lower than Boston, Chicago, and New York City. One factor is housing prices which comparable to Miami and Los Angeles, although property taxes are considerably lower than most places in the United States.
When a visitor or even a Peruvian tries any Peruvian dish, they might not know that what they are eating is the result of a fascinating evolution of foods and cultures. Certainly, Peruvian gastronomy goes beyond only cooking; it is a compendium of events, characters, and customs since food involves different nutritional elements: biological, historical, economic, cultural and social that reveal fundamental aspects of a country’s diet and lifestyles (More, Pablo). Hawaii is much nicer and better than Japan but… everything else is worse than Japan. It becomes more exhausting, they make us work for 10 hours without stopping until break and I feel like my life flashed before my eyes, there are bad houses that are lonely and quiet. I miss you and the family. Over here in Hawaii they give us weird food that I have never tried before, I really miss japanese food though. I wanted to come to Hawaii to help our family with needs and pay for rent and make sure things are going just the way we planned to grow a business there and get a lot of money but, it sure will be hard to get enough money to come back and still have money to help you out.
Breakfast, or desayuno, isn’t a very ceremonious occasion in Cuba. It’s quite short and to the point, consisting of café con leche (coffee with milk), plain coffee (Cuban coffee), or sometimes a heavy, Spanish-style hot chocolate. The hot drink of choice is accompanied by a bread item that is dunkable, known as sube y bajas (“raises and lowers”).
Puerto Rican food is a blend of Spanish, African, Taíno, and American influences being somewhat similar to Spanish, Cuban, and Mexican cuisine. Locals call their cuisine “cocina criolla” (Créole cooking) which can be traced back to the Arawaks and Tainos, the original inhabitants of the island, who thrived on corn, tropical fruit, and seafood. The Spanish brought beef, pork, rice, wheat, and olive oil while slaves from Africa brought okra and taro (known in Puerto Rico as yautia). All of the flavors and ingredients resulted in the blend of today’s Puerto Rican cuisine. Puerto Ricans use a adobo and sofrito to give their food distinctive flavors. Adobo is rubbed into meats before they are cooked and is made by crushing together peppercorns, oregano, garlic, salt, olive oil, and lime juice or vinegar. Sofrito is what gives the island’s rice, soups, or stews their bright-yellow color and is made of a potpourri of onions, garlic, coriander, and peppers.

Both, Germany and the United States, have many things in common, but, at the same time, they differ in many areas even when looking at only just a small part of these two countries like their geography. Most people would think that their geography is obviously different and there is no point in writing a five page essay about something that obvious, but I present these people with a simple question - what is a country's geography? I believe that a country's geography includes not only its location but also its climate, terrain, and environment by which I mean the way people interact with their geography. So based on that fact, what exactly makes these two countries unique and what do they actually share between each other? My goal in this paper is to bring different reliable sources along with personal experience together to show that some parts of the geography between these two countries are very similar while other areas are complete opposites.
